Transmission of equine cyathostomes (Strongylidae) in central Texas
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1983SUMMARY After foaling, 6 mares and their foals were placed on equine parasite-free pastures. Observations of fecal nematode eggs and pasture larvae indicated peak cyathostome egg production occurred in late August and early September, with greatest numbers of larvae on the forage appearing during October.

Estimating Transmission Potential in Gastrointestinal Nematodes (Order: Strongylida)
Journal of Parasitology, 2001Microparasite virulence (the potential to cause harm in the host) is thought to be regulated by a direct trade-off with pathogen transmission potential, but it is unclear whether similar trade-offs occur in macroparasites (helminths). In this analysis, the transmission potentials of 5 nematode species (order Strongylida), known to differ in their ...

The origins and evolutionary expansion of the Strongylida (Nematoda)
International Journal for Parasitology, 1994The Strongylida are thought to have arisen from free-living rhabditoid nematodes, but the relationships between the major groupings within the Strongylida, the Strongylina, the Metastrongylina, Trichostrongylina and the Ancylostomatina are far from clear in spite of the abundance of morphological data now available for analysis. Evolutionary mechanisms

Four Triodontophorus species are found in horses of different areas of the Soviet Union. T. nipponicus, a species new for the USSR fauna, is redescribed; Equus hemionus and E. przewaskii are for the first time established as hosts. T. popowi is sunk in synonymy of T. tenuicollis.
