Development of Ternary Magnesium Alloys for Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Optimizing Oxide Layer Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.

Thermal Emission of Strontium in a Cryogenic Buffer Gas Beam Source [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We demonstrate production of cold atomic strontium (Sr) and strontium-containing molecules (SrOH) in a cryogenic buffer gas beam source via direct heating of strontium oxide (SrO) with 30 mJ laser pulses several milliseconds long. $3.7(2)\times10^{14}$ Sr atoms are released, which represents a factor of 7 increase in atomic production per pulse ...

Thermal tunability in terahertz metamaterials fabricated on strontium titanate single crystal substrates

open access: yes, 2011
We report an experimental demonstration of thermal tuning of resonance frequency in a planar terahertz metamaterial consisting of a gold split-ring resonator array fabricated on a bulk single crystal strontium titanate (SrTiO3) substrate.

Spray Deposition for Solvent Annealing of Hybrid Poly(3,4‐Ethylenedioxythiophene) Polystyrene Sulfonate Cellulose Silver Nanowire Composite Electrodes Using a Roll‐to‐Roll Coater

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The fabrication and post‐treatment via solvent annealing of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate‐based electrodes using spray deposition in a roll‐to‐roll setup are presented. The decrease in sheet resistance and its correlation with nanostructure and molecular structure in the electrodes as a function of the processing parameters is ...

Fractographic Analysis and Fatigue Behavior of Additively Manufactured Ni‐Superalloy Components with Post Processing Heat Treatment and Hot Isostatic Pressing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A study of mechanical properties and fractography of PBF‐LB/M‐built Inconel 718, performing heat treatments and hot‐isostatic pressing, is presented. Ultimate tensile strength and fatigue behavior are evaluated, examining differences in maximum load behavior, elongation, and regimes of fatigue.

Efficacy of the Biomaterials 3 wt%-nanostrontium-hydroxyapatite-enhanced Calcium Phosphate Cement (nanoSr-CPC) and nanoSr-CPC-incorporated Simvastatin-loaded Poly(lactic-co-glycolic-acid) Microspheres in Osteogenesis Improvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Aims The purpose of this multi-phase explorative in vivo animal/surgical and in vitro multi-test experimental study was to (1) create a 3 wt%-nanostrontium hydroxyapatite-enhanced calcium phosphate cement (Sr-HA/CPC) for increasing bone formation and (2)
