Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Strontium and enamel hydroxyapatite stability: Exploring strontium potential as a food supplement

open access: yesFuture Foods
Strontium in food and drinking water may positively affect skeletal health, but the mechanisms behind such protection remain unclear, limiting the broader application of strontium supplements. This study explored strontium interaction with hydroxyapatite

The effects of bismuth, strontium and antimony additions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 aluminium casting alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Aluminium castings offer significant weight reduction and improved fuel efficiency. Nowadays, aluminium recycling is widely practiced so impurity-related problems has become more important.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

The Effects of the Addition of Strontium on the Biological Response to Calcium Phosphate Biomaterials: A Systematic Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Strontium is known for enhancing bone metabolism, osteoblast proliferation, and tissue regeneration. This systematic review aimed to investigate the biological effects of strontium-doped calcium phosphate biomaterials for bone therapy.

A novel hybrid material with calcium and strontium release capability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The preparation of PDMS–TEOS–CaO hybrid materials by sol–gel techniques has been widely described in previous works. Calcium nitrate is the most common source of calcium used in these preparations.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
