Structural, Mechanical, and Dynamical Properties of Amorphous Li2CO3 from Molecular Dynamics Simulations

open access: yesCrystals, 2018
Structural, mechanical, and transport properties of amorphous Li2CO3 were studied using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and a hybrid MD-Monte Carlo (MC) scheme.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Structural and dynamic properties of IL1 receptors

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
The study of the structural and dynamic properties of multidomain proteins is of great interest as they constitute one of the main regulatory mechanisms in the ligand–receptor system. The interleukin-1 (IL-1) family is a group of proinflammatory, pleiotropic cytokines whose activity is primarily mediated through two primary signaling receptors—the IL-1

First-principles study of structural and dynamical properties of As overlayers on InP(110)

open access: yes, 2002
A first-principles study, using a linear-response approach based on the pseudopotential method and the local density functional scheme, has been carried out for the structural and dynamical properties of As overlayers on InP(1?1?0).

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Shadowing as a structural property of the space of dynamical systems

open access: yesDiscrete & Continuous Dynamical Systems, 2022
<p style='text-indent:20px;'>We demonstrate that there is a large class of compact metric spaces for which the shadowing property can be characterized as a structural property of the space of dynamical systems. We also demonstrate that, for this class of spaces, in order to determine whether a system has shadowing, it is sufficient to check that &

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of the Structural and Dynamic Properties of Dioctadecyldimethyl Ammoniums in Organoclays [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2004
The structural and dynamic properties of dioctadecyldimethylammoniums (DODDMA) intercalated into 2:1 layered clays are investigated using isothermal-isobaric (NPT) molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The simulated results are in reasonably good agreement with the available experimental measurements, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), atom force ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Multi-Quanta Spin-Locking Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Relaxation Measurements: An Analysis of the Long-Time Dynamical Properties of Ions and Water Molecules Confined within Dense Clay Sediments

open access: yesMagnetochemistry, 2017
Solid/liquid interfaces are exploited in various industrial applications because confinement strongly modifies the physico-chemical properties of bulk fluids.
