Electronic Structure and Mechanical Properties of Ti5Si3

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2022
The atomic and electronic structures, the elastic moduli, the vibrational frequencies, and the thermodynamic characteristics of the Ti5Si3 titanium silicide are calculated by the projector augmented wave method within the density functional theory. The Fermi surface is calculated and the electron velocity on all its four sheets is estimated.

Multilayer silicene: Structure, electronics, and mechanical property [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Materials Science, 2020
Herein, we performed first principle calculation and classical molecular dynamics simulation to study structural optimization, band structure, and mechanical properties of differently stacked multilayer silicene. Several local energy minima have been identified as metastable conformation with different stacking mode and layer number.

Mechanical and structural properties of archaeal hypernucleosomes [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2020
Abstract Many archaea express histones, which organize the genome and play a key role in gene regulation. The structure and function of archaeal histone–DNA complexes remain however largely unclear. Recent studies show formation of hypernucleosomes consisting of DNA wrapped around an ‘endless’ histone-protein core.

Boron-Carbon Coatings: Structure, Morphology, and Mechanical Properties [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Sciences, 2020
Boron-doped carbon coatings have been produced by a method combining the deposition of a pulsed carbon plasma coating and a boron flow formed as a result of the evaporation of a boron target by pulsed YAG: Nd3+ laser irradiation. Phase, chemical composition, structure, and mechanical properties of composite boron-carbon coatings have been determined ...

Fibrin mechanical properties and their structural origins [PDF]

open access: yesMatrix Biology, 2017
Fibrin is a protein polymer that is essential for hemostasis and thrombosis, wound healing, and several other biological functions and pathological conditions that involve extracellular matrix. In addition to molecular and cellular interactions, fibrin mechanics has been recently shown to underlie clot behavior in the highly dynamic intra- and ...

Structural, optical, and mechanical properties of TiO2 nanolaminates [PDF]

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2020
Abstract The structural, optical, and mechanical properties of TiO2 nanolaminate films grown by plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition are discussed. Several TiO2/Al2O3 and TiO2/SiO2 compositions have been investigated to study the effect of the relative number of ALD oxide cycles on the film properties to obtain a high refractive index

Structural, Mechanical, and Piezoelectric Properties of Janus Bidimensional Monolayers

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
In the present work, the noncentrosymmetric 2D ternary Janus monolayers Al2XX’(X/X’ = S, Se, Te and O), Si2XX’(X/X’ = P, As, Sb and Bi), and A2PAs(A = Ge, Sn and Pb) have been studied based on first-principles calculations.

Absorption capacity, kinetics and mechanical behaviour in dry and wet states of hydrophobic DEDMS/TEOS-based silica aerogels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work is a new approach to the study of the structural, mechanical and absorption properties of hybrid organic/inorganic silica-based aerogels. Diethoxydimethylsilane and tetraethoxysilane have been used as precursors.
