ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 nanocomposite heterojunction for photocatalytic decomposition of this methylene blue dye (MB) greatly improves light absorption, charge separation, and active site area. Two‐dimensional MXene forms nanocomposites by easily combining them with 0D (quantum dots), 1D (tube and wire), 2D (plane and sheet), and 3D (particle and lamellar ...

Carbon‐free inert anodes are essential for decarbonizing aluminum electrolysis. This study investigates a recyclate‐based MgO‐316L steel composite anode tested under galvanostatic Hall–Héroult conditions in cryolite at 1000°C. Microstructural analysis reveals selective MgO fluorination, spinel and oxide layer formation, electrolyte infiltration, and ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

Fibrillar Structure and Mechanical Properties of Collagen
Journal of Structural Biology, 1998Collagen type I is among the most important stress-carrying protein structures in mammals. Despite their importance for the outstanding mechanical properties of this tissue, there is still a lack of understanding of the processes that lead to the specific shape of the stress-strain curve of collagen.

Structural, mechanical properties and fracture mechanism of RuB1.1
Dalton Transactions, 2014Polycrystalline RuB(1.1) has been prepared by using an arc-melting method and its structure and mechanical properties including elastic modulus, hardness and fracture behavior have been characterized. Also, the electronic structure and bond characteristics for this compound have been investigated by first-principles calculations. The lattice parameters

Packing Structure and Mechanical Properties of Granulates
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1990The stiffness tensor relating the stress and strain in the generalized Hooke's law can take various forms depending upon the symmetry of the mechanical properties of the granular material. This material symmetry is expected to be closely related to the packing structure of the granular material.

Structure and mechanical properties of crab exoskeletons
Acta Biomaterialia, 2008The structure and mechanical properties of the exoskeleton (cuticle) of the sheep crab (Loxorhynchus grandis) were investigated. The crab exoskeleton is a natural composite consisting of highly mineralized chitin-protein fibers arranged in a twisted plywood or Bouligand pattern.
