Structural and Mechanical Properties of Platinum Carbide
Inorganic Chemistry, 2014Platinum carbide (PtC) was synthesized under extreme conditions and considered as a potential candidate for superhard materials. However, the unsettled issue concerning the structural identification has impeded the full understanding of its physical and chemical properties.

Structural and Mechanical Properties of Mandibular Condylar Bone
Journal of Dental Research, 2006The trabecular bone of the mandibular condyle is structurally anisotropic and heterogeneous. We hypothesized that its apparent elastic moduli are also anisotropic and heterogeneous, and depend on trabecular density and orientation. Eleven condyles were scanned with a micro-CT system.

Structure and Mechanical Properties of Hydroxypropylated Starch Films
Biomacromolecules, 2007Films of acid-hydrolyzed hydroxypropylated pea starch with average molecular weight M w ranging from 3.3 x 10 (4) g/mol to 1.6 x 10 (6) g/mol were prepared from 25% (w/w) solution by casting. The structure of the films was investigated by means X-ray diffraction and calorimetry, evidencing a B-type crystalline structure.

Structural, Mechanical, and Superconducting Properties of Clathrates
2010Clathrates are superhard cagelike structures with sp3 bonding that have been up to now synthesized for silicon. There is however some evidence of a carbon based counterpart in meteorites. If realized, carbon clathrates could on the one hand provide a material harder than diamond and on the other hand offer the possibility for selective doping and ...

Carbon fibres: structure and mechanical properties
Composites Science and Technology, 1998Abstract The microstructure of six types of acrylic-based and hydrated cellulose-based carbon fibres of strengths from 1650 to 6120 MPa and elastic moduli from 97 to 228 GPa were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A ‘microcomposite’ structure of carbon fibres studied consisting of quasi-amorphous (‘matrix’) and orientated fibrillar carbon

Cotton Fibers. Constitution, Structure, and Mechanical Properties
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1940Abstract The study by chemical methods of the constitution, derivatives, and properties of cellulose has yielded a voluminous literature and a wealth of useful information. Microscopic and x-ray investigations have produced much new and valuable knowledge of cellulose and its structure. But relatively little attention is given to the mechanical

Structure and mechanical properties of polysaccharides
Macromolecular Symposia, 1998AbstractThis article serves both as a review of polysaccharides as gelling and thickening agents and as an introduction to polysaccharides, other than starch and cellulose, their source and extraction, and how molecular detail is reflected in their macromolecular and supramolecular properties.

Quasicrystalline Materials. Structure and Mechanical Properties
2001A brief description of the structure of quasicrystalline materials, their behavior under mechanical load and the mechanism of their high-temperature plastic deformation on the base of literary data are given. Original data about the investigation of the deformation of AlCuFe quasicrystal by a complex of micro- and nanoindentation techniques in a wide ...
