The use of EU funds in Slovakia [PDF]
The paper investigates how funds are allocated by the European Union and how they are used in the Slovak Republic. The paper concentrates on utilizing funds in two regions: Trnava self-governing region and Presov self-governing region, in two periods ...

Measuring mutual fund herding – A structural approach [PDF]
This paper proposes a methodological improvement to empirical studies of herd behavior based on investor transactions. By developing a simple model of trading behavior, we show that the traditionally used herding measure produces biased results. As this bias depends on characteristics of the data, it also affects the robustness of previous findings. We

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The Influence of Network Structure in Fund Competition on Fund Performance
The number of public offering funds in China has increased year by year. Through the study of Chinese public offering funds in 2011-2020, we find that: (1) the information barrier density of the fund has a significant inhibitory effect on the fund performance, that is, the greater the information barrier density of the fund, the worse its performance. (

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Cohesion Policy in Poland and in the Czech Republic – Challenges and Prospects [PDF]
The aim of the cohesion policy is to accelerate the socio-economic development of Member States and their regions. Poland as well as its closest neighbour, the Czech Republic, have benefited from structural funds and the Cohesion Fund.
