Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

The Influences of Structural Deformation on Coal and Gas Outburst Types

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
Geological structure is the main control factor of coal and gas outburst. Characteristics and types of coal and gas outburst usually have great different in regions of different structural deformation patterns.

Multifunctional Eutectic Mixtures Enable Integrated Recovery of U, Pu, and Sr From Nuclear Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel class of multifunctional eutectic mixtures, crafted from crown ether and organophosphorus molecules, achieves highly efficient, simultaneous recovery of uranium, plutonium, and strontium from nuclear waste. The material operates via a dual “coordination‐encapsulation” mechanism within self‐assembled reverse‐micelle structures, offering a ...

Status of the geological research in Svalbard and the Barents Sea [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1986
For more than one hundred years the archipelago of Svalbard has been visited by numerous geologists particularly interested in the stratigraphy and palaeontology of the nearly continuous series of late Palaeozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary ...

Structural and Compositional Effects on the Scintillation Properties of Fast Emitting Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The crystalline structure, the atomic numbers of the constituent elementsand the size of MOF crystals each influence their photoluminescence and scintillation properties in distinct ways. Together, these factors provide valuable guidelines for designing systems with optimized performance and tunable timing characteristics, arising from the synergistic ...

Integrating Post-Processing Kinematic (PPK)–Structure-from-Motion (SfM) with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Photogrammetry and Digital Field Mapping for Structural Geological Analysis

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2022
We studied some exposures of the Roccacaramanico Conglomerate (RCC), a calcareous-clastic mega-bed intercalated within the Late Messinian–Early Pliocene pelitic succession of the La Queglia and Maiella tectonic units (central Apennines).

Precision Lignocellulosic Biorefinery: Process Regulation From Corn Stover to Products

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a precision biorefinery framework that transforms corn stover into high‐value bioproducts through whole‐process regulation. Mechanical fractionation separates feedstock into parenchyma‐rich short fibers and vascular‐bundle‐dominant long fibers.
