Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Non-parametric linear time-invariant system identification by discrete wavelet transforms

open access: yes, 2006
We describe the use of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for non-parametric linear time-invariant system identification. Identification is achieved by using a test excitation to the system under test (SUT) that also acts as the analyzing function for ...

Structure Is a Visual Class Invariant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The problem of learning the class identity of visual objects has received considerable attention recently. With rare exception, all of the work to date assumes low variation in appearance, which limits them to a single depictive style usually photographic.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A database of invariant rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
peer reviewedWe announce the creation of a database of invariant rings. This database contains a large number of invariant rings of finite groups, mostly in the modular case.

Twin-width and permutations [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science
Inspired by a width invariant on permutations defined by Guillemot and Marx, Bonnet, Kim, Thomass\'e, and Watrigant introduced the twin-width of graphs, which is a parameter describing its structural complexity.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Some invariant test procedures for detection of structural changes; behavior under alternatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
summary:Regression- and scale-invariant $M$-test procedures for detection of structural changes in linear regression model was developed and their limit behavior under the null hypothesis was studied in Hušková [9].

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
