An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Direct and Indirect Effects of IQ, Parental Help, Effort, and Mathematics Self-Concept on Mathematics Achievement

open access: yesEurope's Journal of Psychology, 2012
This study examined the structural relationships among cognitive constructs (intelligence and achievement) and affective constructs (perceived parental help, effort and self-concept). It was proposed that the relationships are not invariant across gender.

Structure invariance for uncertain nonlinear systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1994
A unified study of three control problems associated to multi-input multi-output nonlinear systems with uncertainties is presented, namely, input-state linearization by static state feedback, input-output decoupling by static state feedback and input-output decoupling by dynamic compensation.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Structurally corrected invariant-preserving neural networks for conservative dynamical systems: a statistically validated approach

open access: yesScientific Journal of King Faisal University: Basic and Applied Sciences
In this paper a structural correction in neural network architecture for the long-time integration of conservative dynamical systems is used to overcome uncontrolled invariant drift existing in standard physics-informed formulations.

Modality-Invariant Optical–SAR Image Registration Using Hierarchical Structural Cognition Prior

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Existing deep learning methods for optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image registration have attempted to incorporate structural or gradient information.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Structure of Gauge-Invariant Lagrangians

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Mathematics, 2019
The theory of gauge fields in Theoretical Physics poses several mathematical problems of interest in Differential Geometry and in Field Theory. Below we tackle one of these problems: The existence of a finite system of generators of gauge-invariant Lagrangians and how to compute them.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
