Deformable structural models

2004 International Conference on Image Processing, 2004. ICIP '04., 2005
A hierarchical framework for the recognition of complex deformable shapes is developed. In extension to traditional approaches an additional layer of control is introduced to guide the local search for subshapes. This is realized by incorporating knowledge about their spatial relationships.

Protein Structure Modeling

2010
The tertiary structure of proteins can reveal information that is hard to detect in a linear sequence. Knowing the tertiary structure is valuable when generating hypothesis and interpreting data. Unfortunately, the gap between the number of known protein sequences and their associated structures is widening.

Structural models of psychopathy

Current Psychiatry Reports, 2005
Psychopathy traditionally is defined by a cluster of inferred personality traits and socially deviant behaviors. The accepted standard for the reliable and valid assessment of psychopathy is the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R). Because of its importance in basic and applied research, and in the mental health and criminal justice systems, the PCL ...

ON MODEL STRUCTURING CONCEPTS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1988
Abstract Models of various kinds are important in control engineering. It is unfortunately often a time-consuming and difficult task to develop a model. The objective of this paper is to discuss how reuse of models in different contexts could be supported by imposing structure on models and by supporting flexibility and building of model libraries ...

Non-parametric Structural Models

2008
The interplay between economic theory and econometrics comes to its full force when analysing structural models. These models are used in industrial organization, marketing, public finance, labour economics and many other fields in economics. Structural econometric methods make use of the behavioural and equilibrium assumptions specified in economic ...

Structured speech modeling

IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, 2006
Modeling dynamic structure of speech is a novel paradigm in speech recognition research within the generative modeling framework, and it offers a potential to overcome limitations of the current hidden Markov modeling approach. Analogous to structured language models where syntactic structure is exploited to represent long-distance relationships among ...

Structured Indoor Modeling

2015 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2015
This paper presents a novel 3D modeling framework that reconstructs an indoor scene as a structured model from panorama RGBD images. A scene geometry is represented as a graph, where nodes correspond to structural elements such as rooms, walls, and objects. The approach devises a structure grammar that defines how a scene graph can be manipulated.

Modelling Spatial Structures

2015
Data is spatial if it contains references to space. We can easily detect explicit references, for example coordinates, but we cannot detect whether data implicitly contains references to space, and whether it has properties of spatial data, if additional semantic information is missing.

Modeling Underwater Structures

International Journal of Cognitive Informatics and Natural Intelligence, 2008
Deliberate exploitation of natural resources and excessive use of environmentally abhorrent materials have resulted in environmental disruptions threatening the life support systems. A human centric approach of development has already damaged nature to a large extent. This has attracted the attention of environmental specialists and policy makers.

Structural Equation Modelling

2018
A family of statistical techniques that has risen in popularity in conjunction with the availability of computing power and software is that of structural equation modelling (SEM). This chapter will provide an introduction to the basic principles of SEM analysis by constructing and fitting an example model.
