Out-of-Plane Micrograting Accelerometer Based on Micro Opto Electromechanical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
This paper proposes a miniature micrograting accelerometer based on out-of-plane motion that integrates a laser, photodetector, resonator, grating, and an electromagnetic feedback module.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Structural conservation in single-domain proteins: Implications for homology modeling

open access: yes, 2001
Large-scale sequencing projects are widening the gap between the known protein universe and the fraction for which structural information has been experimentally obtained.

NPHS2 Revisited Through 208 Cases and Podocin Complex Modeling

open access: yesKidney International Reports
Introduction: Steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) is the leading cause of chronic glomerular disease in individuals under 25 years of age. Biallelic variants in NPHS2, encoding podocin, are the most common monogenic etiology.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

The structural reliability of bridges subject to time-dependent deterioration

open access: yes, 2007
Paper presented at the 11th International Conference on Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Computing, Malta, 18-21 September 2007The reliability of the structural performance of any given structure is affected by both in-service loading and ...

Structural Exchange Rate Modeling: The Case of a Small Open Economy

open access: yesRisks
A new mathematical structural model of the exchange rate and a new nonlinear multifactorial dependence of the exchange rate dynamics on a wide system of fundamental economic factors are the main results of the work.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...
