The Zagreb (Croatia) M5.5 Earthquake on 22 March 2020

open access: yesGeosciences, 2020
On 22 March 2020, Zagreb was struck by an M5.5 earthquake that had been expected for more than 100 years and revealed all the failures in the construction of residential buildings in the Croatian capital, especially those built in the first half of the ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Multilevel Prediction of Mechanical Properties of Samples Additively Manufactured from Steel 308LSi

open access: yesMetals
This study employs a multilevel modeling approach to describe the deformation of specimens made from austenitic Wire Arc Additive Manufactured (WAAM) steel 308LSi. Two WAAM processing modes were investigated: (1) the Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) method and (

Modelling the term structure

open access: yesFinancial Markets and Portfolio Management
Abstract Based on an analysis of changes in the yields of German government bonds, we propose a simple model for the term structure of interest rates and show that this model with two parameters (relating to the interest level and slope of the term structure) fits empirically well the data for a change horizon of one year or longer ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Basic principles of the relationship of social and economic development of the city and the revenue and expenditure of the its budget (for example Sumy) [PDF]

open access: yesMarketing i Menedžment Innovacij, 2011
The article deals with the theoretical foundations of social and economic development of the city. The correlation between the socio-economic development of Sumy and revenues and expenditures of its budget is determined on the base of structural modeling.

A New Approach to Identifying an Arbitrary Number of Inclusions, Their Geometry and Location in the Structure Using Topological Optimization

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In the present paper, a new approach to identifying an arbitrary number of inclusions, their geometry and their location in 2D and 3D structures using topological optimization was proposed.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
