Comparative Protein Structure Modeling Using MODELLER [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Protocols in Protein Science, 2006
AbstractFunctional characterization of a protein sequence is a common goal in biology, and is usually facilitated by having an accurate three‐dimensional (3‐D) structure of the studied protein. In the absence of an experimentally determined structure, comparative or homology modeling can sometimes provide a useful 3‐D model for a protein that is ...

Structural Model of Eumelanin [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
Melanin is a ubiquitous pigment in living organisms with multiple important functions, yet its structure is not well understood. We propose a structural model for eumelanin protomolecules, consisting of 4 or 5 of the basic molecular units (hydroquinone, indolequinone, and its tautomers), in arrangements that contain an inner porphyrin ring. We use time-

Heterogeneity and the nonparametric analysis of consumer choice: conditions for invertibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper considers structural nonparametric random utility models for continuous choice variables. It provides sufficient conditions on random preferences to yield reduced- form systems of nonparametric stochastic demand functions that allow global ...

Finite element models applied in active structural acoustic control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper discusses the modeling of systems for active structural acoustic control. The finite element method is applied to model structures including the dynamics of piezoelectric sensors and actuators.

Phase transitions for scaling of structural correlations in directed networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Analysis of degree-degree dependencies in complex networks, and their impact on processes on networks requires null models, i.e. models that generate uncorrelated scale-free networks.

Corporate Rating. Multidimensional Perspective in the Context of the Differentiation in Terms of Localization Criteria. Empirical Perspective on Developed versus Emerging Countries [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Economics, 2008
This paper focuses on corporate rating delivery process in terms of localization criteria differentiation. Corporate rating is conceived as a default predictor.

Protein Structure Modeling with MODELLER

open access: yes, 2014
Genome sequencing projects have resulted in a rapid increase in the number of known protein sequences. In contrast, only about one-hundredth of these sequences have been characterized at atomic resolution using experimental structure determination methods.

Pedestal Structure Model

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
Predictions are developed for gradients and profiles of the electron density and temperature in tokamak H-mode pedestals that are in transport quasiequilibrium. They are based on assuming paleoclassical processes provide the irreducible minimum radial plasma transport and dominate in the steep gradient regions of pedestals.
