Differentiating Dementia with Lewy Bodies and Alzheimer's Disease by Deep Learning to Structural MRI

Journal of Neuroimaging, 2021
Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is the second most prevalent cause of degenerative dementia next to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Though current DLB diagnostic criteria employ several indicative biomarkers, relative preservation of the medial temporal lobe ...

Structural MRI and Brain Development

2005
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans provide exceptionally detailed information on how the human brain changes throughout childhood, adolescence, and into old age. We describe several approaches for understanding developmental changes in brain structures based on MRI.

MRI to assess renal structure and function

Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 2011
In addition to excellent anatomical depiction, MRI techniques have expanded to study functional aspects of renal physiology, such as renal perfusion, glomerular filtration rate (GFR) or tissue oxygenation. This review will focus on current developments with an emphasis on clinical applicability. The method of GFR determination is largely heterogeneous ...

Differentiating between bipolar and unipolar depression in functional and structural MRI studies

Progress in Neuro-psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 2019
&NA; Distinguishing depression in bipolar disorder (BD) from unipolar depression (UD) solely based on clinical clues is difficult, which has led to the exploration of promising neural markers in neuroimaging measures for discriminating between BD ...

Structured reporting of MRI for perianal fistula

Abdominal Radiology, 2018
The purpose of this article is to review MRI technique, relevant anatomy, and MRI classification systems for the assessment of perianal fistulising disease. We present a stepwise approach to the assessment of perianal fistulas on MRI utilizing a systematic reporting format.MRI is invaluable for the assessment of perianal fistulas.

Integrated 4D visualization of MRI and structure

ACM SIGGRAPH 2006 Research posters on - SIGGRAPH '06, 2006
We describe our preliminary research on integrating MRI video with a 3D surface scan of a face. Our approach first extracts contours of a video by using snakes [KWT87, LL93]; then the outline structure of the video is matched with a close matching contour on the 3D face structure.

Robust segmentation of brain structures in MRI

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2009
A novel method for the segmentation of brain structures combining registration-based and EM-based approaches is proposed. To address the issue of intensity variation within brain structures, we propose a method for creating spatial prior corresponding very well with the new subject anatomy, referred to as subject-specific atlas.
