Community detection in networks: Structural communities versus ground truth

open access: yes, 2014
Algorithms to find communities in networks rely just on structural information and search for cohesive subsets of nodes. On the other hand, most scholars implicitly or explicitly assume that structural communities represent groups of nodes with similar ...

Network Embedding Based on k-core Decomposition [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng
In recent years, network embedding technology has attracted considerable attention from researchers. However, most network embedding algorithms have not adequately addressed the structural similarity among nodes within the same hierarchical level, even ...

Local pre-processing for node classification in networks : application in protein-protein interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Network modelling provides an increasingly popular conceptualisation in a wide range of domains, including the analysis of protein structure. Typical approaches to analysis model parameter values at nodes within the network. The spherical locality around

A Structure Fidelity Approach for Big Data Collection in Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2014
One of the most widespread and important applications in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the continuous data collection, such as monitoring the variety of ambient temperature and humidity.

Two Faces of NOTCH1 in Childhood Lymphoblastic T‐Cell Neoplasia: Prognostic Divergence of Mutational and Structural Aberrations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In pediatric patients, T‐cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T‐LBL) survival exceeds 80%. Relapse remains associated with limited curative options. Frontline treatment is largely extrapolated from T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) treatment, reflecting the ongoing debate, whether both entities represent distinct diseases or variants within ...

Transforming complex network to the acyclic one

open access: yes, 2012
Acyclic networks are a class of complex networks in which links are directed and don't have closed loops. Here we present an algorithm for transforming an ordinary undirected complex network into an acyclic one.

Not all paths lead to Rome: Analysing the network of sister cities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work analyses the practice of sister city pairing. We investigate structural properties of the resulting city and country networks and present rankings of the most central nodes in these networks. We identify different country clusters and find that

Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network Based on Data Augmentation [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji kexue
Heterogeneous graph is a graph composed of different types of nodes and edges, which can model various types of objects and their relationships in the real world.Heterogeneous graph embedding aims to learn the embedding vectors of nodes by capturing rich ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A Self-Organization Framework for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks as Small Worlds

open access: yes, 2012
Motivated by the benefits of small world networks, we propose a self-organization framework for wireless ad hoc networks. We investigate the use of directional beamforming for creating long-range short cuts between nodes.
