Electronic structure of Pb- and non-Pb-based phosphate scintillators
Physical Review B, 2006The electronic structures of Pb and non-Pb containing phosphates, specifically ${\mathrm{Pb}}_{3}{(\mathrm{P}{\mathrm{O}}_{4})}_{2}$, ${\mathrm{Pb}}_{2}{\mathrm{P}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{7}$, $\mathrm{Sc}\mathrm{P}{\mathrm{O}}_{4}$, $\mathrm{Y}\mathrm{P}{\mathrm{O}}_{4}$, and $\mathrm{Lu}\mathrm{P}{\mathrm{O}}_{4}$, are compared using a combination of ...

Hyperfine-structure measurements on trapped Pb ii
Physical Review A, 1992The 6${\mathit{P}}_{3/2}$-6${\mathit{P}}_{1/2}$ magnetic dipole resonance transition in ${\mathrm{Pb}}^{+}$ has been observed by cw laser excitation of an ion cloud stored in a Paul trap and subsequent detection of the fluorescence radiation. From the hyperfine-structure splitting of the spectrum we determine the A factor for the ground state, A ...

Time-resolved structural study of Pb(100)
Physical Review Letters, 1993Time-resolved reflection high-energy electron diffraction is used to study the structural behavior of Pb(100) subjected to 200 ps laser pulses. Analysis of the electron diffraction intensity indicates that residual order is present on the surface at a temperature of 615[plus minus]20 K, where the bulk melting temperature of Pb is 600.7 K.

Structural features of Pb/Ag, Ag/Cu and Cu/Pb multilayers
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1993Abstract Layered structures of Pb/Ag, Ag/Cu and Cu/Pb films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction. The Pb/Ag and Ag/Cu films showed satellite peaks due to superlattice structures. The appearance of coherent layer stacking is discussed in terms of the crystal natures of the constituent elements including the lattice mismatch and surface energy.

The PbSSi heterojunction I: Growth and structure of PbS films on silicon
Thin Solid Films, 1980Abstract PbS films on silicon substrates were prepared using the method of Davis and Knorr. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and reflection high energy electron diffraction techniques were used to characterize the film structure. Our results show a strongly fiber-oriented structure in the 〈100〉 direction.

Jet production and structure in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions measured by ALICE
Nuclear Physics A, 2014Abstract In ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions a hot, dense medium of strongly interacting matter called the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) is formed. One of the main goals of jet measurements is to study how the fragmentation of hard scattered partons is modified as they traverse the medium.

The Structural Role of Ag in Galena PbS. A XANES Study
Physica Scripta, 2005A number of Ag-bearing galena samples (PbS) has been investigated by Ag K-edge XAS in order to determine the Ag structural role within the host galena structure. Despite the very low absorber concentration and the high absorbance of the PbS matrix, XANES spectra were successfully collected for samples with Ag content down to 500 ppm.

Structure and Composition of Polished PbS Surfaces
Crystal Research and Technology, 1986Abstract{100} surfaces, produced from sublimation grown PbS single crystals by cutting, mechanical and chemical polishing, were characterized with regard to topography, structure and chemical composition. For this purpose, some methods independent from another were used, for instance profile measuring, dislocation etching, X‐ray rocking‐curves, RHEED ...

Crystal structure of `Pb'-1234 superconductor
Physica C: Superconductivity, 1998Abstract A sample with a nominal composition of Pb:Sr:Ca:Cu=5.0:28.0:27.0:40.0 has been prepared by using a high-pressure synthesis technique. A micro-composition analysis by an energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) measurement indicated that the ratio of cations in the main phase was Pb:Sr:Ca:Cu=5.5:24.6:27.9:41.4.

Superdeformed structures in Pb-197,Pb-198
1996Two new superdeformed bands, which possess almost constant dynamic moments of inertia as a unction of rotational frequency, have been observed in Pb-197. They are thought to be based upon the favored and unfavored signature components of an N=7 neutron intruder orbital. Previous work tentatively assigned a superdeformed band to Pb-198. The present work
