Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

MXene-mediated interface synergistic regulation of Prussian blue films for high-performance electrochromic devices

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
In order to address the key bottlenecks in Prussian blue (PB)-based electrochromic devices—including low crystallinity, sluggish ion diffusion kinetics, and weak interfacial bonding.

Structure and function of PBS model complex

open access: yesChinese Science Bulletin, 1998
A complex of phycobiliproteins, containing phycoerythrocyanin (PEC), C-phycovyanin (C-PC) and allo-phycocyanin (APC) as well as some linker polypeptides, was reconstructed. The absorption and fluoreacence spectra of the complex were compared with those of native phycobilisomes (PBS) and the phycobiliproteins.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Longitudinal evaluation of structural brain alterations in two established mouse models of Gulf War Illness

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Gulf War Illness (GWI) affects nearly 30% of veterans from the 1990–1991 Gulf War (GW) and is a multi-symptom illness with many neurological effects attributed to in-theater wartime chemical overexposures.

Jet structure in 2.76 TeV Pb–Pb collisions at ALICE

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 2013
AbstractWe present the analysis of the semi-inclusive distribution of reconstructed charged particle jets recoiling from a high pT hadron trigger in central Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV measure, subtract and unfold the large underlying event background in such collisions, utilizing a novel technique that does not impose fragmentation bias on the ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Structural Ore-Control Model of the Daliangzi Pb–Zn Deposit, Southwest China

open access: yesGeosciences
The oblique distribution of orebodies is a fundamental characteristic of the spatial arrangement of orebody groups in non-magmatic hydrothermal deposits and is closely related to shearing.

Investigation of Structural Phase Transition of PbS [PDF]

open access: yesISRN Condensed Matter Physics, 2012
The high-pressure structural phase transition of semiconductor PbS has been investigated, using the three body potential (TBP) model. Phase transition pressures are associated with a sudden collapse in volume. The phase transition pressures and related volume collapses obtained from this model show a generally good agreement with available results ...
