Prime 2-structures

open access: yesContributions to Discrete Mathematics
The 2-structures generalize arc-coloured digraphs. They are obtained from a vertex set by considering an equivalence relation between the ordered pairs of distinct vertices. The 2-structures provide a suitable framework to introduce the modular decomposition.

Attachment anxiety benefits from security priming: Evidence from working memory performance. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The present study investigates the relationship between the attachment dimensions (anxious vs. avoidance) and the cognitive performance of individuals, specifically whether the attachment dimensions would predict the working memory (WM) performance.

Effects of Melatonin Priming on Suaeda corniculata Seed Germination, Antioxidant Defense, and Reserve Mobilization: Implications for Salinized Wetland Restoration

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2022
Melatonin priming has been widely reported to positively affect seed germination under abiotic stresses. However, there is still a gap in knowledge on how melatonin priming impacts the seed germination and physiological change of wetland plant species ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

If I see what you see, do I say what you say? Assessing the relationship between perspective-taking and linguistic alignment in monolingual and bilingual speakers

open access: yesLanguage and Cognition
Although syntactic priming is often studied in a purely cognitive framework, individual differences in rates of syntactic priming may be related to other social-cognitive and sociolinguistic factors. One such factor may be perspective-taking, in that the

Promoting EFL students’ accuracy and fluency through interactive practice activities

open access: yesStudies in Second Language Learning and Teaching, 2019
This study examined the effectiveness of interactive activities at facilitating EFL students’ production of English relative clauses. Thirty-seven EFL learners in Chile carried out interactive activities designed to elicit relative clauses.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Word Structure Tunes Electrophysiological and Hemodynamic Responses in the Frontal Cortex

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
To date, it is still unclear how word structure might impact lexical processing in the brain for languages with an impoverished system of grammatical morphology such as Chinese.
