Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Reliability-Based Design Optimisation of Bridge Systems Within BIM—Robustness, Redundancy and Safety Metrics

open access: yesBuildings
Research shows that structures are often over designed in reliability-based calculations compared to code requirements. To address the knowledge gap in applying Reliability Based Design Optimisation (RBDO) within Building Information Modelling (BIM ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

B-Edge Differential Measures for Structural Robustness of Certain Graph Classes

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
The use of graph-theoretic parameters is essential in interpreting the structural robustness, efficiency, and functionality of complex networks. Specifically, edge-based metrics are more useful in interpreting the susceptibility of links and the concept ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Achieving structural robustness

open access: yesce/papers
Abstract Robustness analyses aims at preventing a structural system from failing after the occurrence of damage, exceptional/unexpected events, or operational malfunctions. This paper reviews the key aspects of robustness in structures, and associated concepts such as redundancy and resilience.
