Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Language classification from bilingual word embedding graphs

open access: yes, 2016
We study the role of the second language in bilingual word embeddings in monolingual semantic evaluation tasks. We find strongly and weakly positive correlations between down-stream task performance and second language similarity to the target language ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Autoencoder-Based Unsupervised Surface Defect Detection Using Two-Stage Training

open access: yesJournal of Imaging
Accurately detecting defects while reconstructing a high-quality normal background in surface defect detection using unsupervised methods remains a significant challenge.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Identification of new superwarfarin-type rodenticides by structural similarity. The docking of ligands on the vitamin K epoxide reductase enzyme’s active site

open access: yesActa Universitatis Sapientiae: Agriculture and Environment, 2015
The rodenticide brodifacoum is highly toxic to mammals and birds, and extremely toxic to fish. It is a highly cumulative poison due to its high lipophilicity and extremely slow elimination. For this reason, it may be interesting to find similar compounds
