Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Change Detection Based on Multi-Feature Clustering Using Differential Evolution for Landsat Imagery
Change detection (CD) of natural land cover is important for environmental protection and to maintain an ecological balance. The Landsat series of satellites provide continuous observation of the Earth’s surface and is sensitive to reflection of ...

Similarity Search in Structured Data [PDF]
Recently, structured data is getting more and more important in database applications, such as molecular biology, image retrieval or XML document retrieval. Attributed graphs are a natural model for the structured data in those applications. For the clustering and classification of such structured data, a similarity measure for attributed graphs is ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Similarity consideration of structural bifurcation buckling
Many structural bifurcation buckling problems exhibit a scaling or power law property. Dimensional analysis is used to analyze the general scaling property.

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Structure Learning with Similarity Preserving
Leveraging on the underlying low-dimensional structure of data, low-rank and sparse modeling approaches have achieved great success in a wide range of applications. However, in many applications the data can display structures beyond simply being low-rank or sparse.
