On subcellular distribution of the zinc finger 469 protein (ZNF469) and observed discrepancy in the localization of endogenous and overexpressed ZNF469

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZNF469 regulates the expression of genes encoding extracellular matrix proteins. Endogenous ZNF469 is predominantly cytoplasmic, while in transfected cells, it forms aggregates reminiscent of biomolecular condensates, located mainly in the nucleus. These condensates exhibit overlapping staining with proteasomes and are also associated with the mitotic ...

Advanced glycation end products promote the release of endothelial cell‐derived mitocytosis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under diabetic conditions, AGEs induce mitochondrial damage in HUVECs, activating migrasome‐mediated mitocytosis. Migrasomes encapsulate damaged mitochondria and are released into the extracellular space, facilitating intercellular mitochondrial transfer.

A randomized trial in a massive online open course shows people don't know what a statistically significant relationship looks like, but they can learn [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Scatterplots are the most common way for statisticians, scientists, and the public to visually detect relationships between measured variables. At the same time, and despite widely publicized controversy, P-values remain the most commonly used measure to statistically justify relationships identified between variables.

Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Evaluating and Analyzing Relationship Hallucinations in Large Vision-Language Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The issue of hallucinations is a prevalent concern in existing Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs). Previous efforts have primarily focused on investigating object hallucinations, which can be easily alleviated by introducing object detectors. However, these efforts neglect hallucinations in inter-object relationships, which is essential for visual ...

Sense Perception Common Sense Relationships [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Often missing in existing knowledge bases of facts, are relationships that encode common sense knowledge about unnamed entities. In this paper, we propose to extract novel, common sense relationships pertaining to sense perception concepts such as sound and smell.

An open chat with…Pierre Santucci: a testimonial on why we should engage with scientific societies and their journals

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pierre SANTUCCI is a principal investigator at the CNRS—Aix Marseille Université and recipient of a FEBS Excellence Award. He was also recently appointed FEBS Open Bio Publishing Liaison Officer. In this Open Chat with…, he discusses the importance of engaging with scientific societies and their journals, and highlights through some of his personal ...

Relationships are Complicated! An Analysis of Relationships Between Datasets on the Web [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The Web today has millions of datasets, and the number of datasets continues to grow at a rapid pace. These datasets are not standalone entities; rather, they are intricately connected through complex relationships. Semantic relationships between datasets provide critical insights for research and decision-making processes.
