Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Highly Permeable Perfluorinated Sulfonic Acid Ionomers for Improved Electrochemical Devices: Insights into Structure-Property Relationships. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Rapid improvements in polymer-electrolyte fuel-cell (PEFC) performance have been driven by the development of commercially available ion-conducting polymers (ionomers) that are employed as membranes and catalyst binders in membrane-electrode assemblies ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Modeling of Structure-Property Relationships of Polymerizable Surfactants with Antimicrobial Activity

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Polymerizable quaternary ammonium salts (PQASs) were synthesized in a previous work and some of them were used as surfactants in the antimicrobial coating of commercial membranes.

Investigation of structure-property relationships in systematic series of novel polymers [PDF]

open access: yes
Solid state transitions in polymeric materials was associated with the onset of sub-molecular motions of the polymer chains. Although these were considered to be intramolecular in general, the local environment of the polymer molecule exerts a strong ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Quantitative Relationships Between Structure and Lipophilicity of Naturally Occurring Polyphenols

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2014
The lipophilicity of polyphenols inherent in food, beverages, and medicinal plants was modelled by using 3D descriptors derived from optimized 3D molecular structures in combination with 2D descriptors.

Investigating room temperature ferroelectric nematogens and their structure-property relationships

open access: yesNature Communications
The recent discovery of proper ferroelectricity in low molar mass liquid crystals has made the quest for identifying materials which exhibit the phase transition at room temperatures of upmost importance.
