The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Comparative study on the structure-properties relationships of native and debranched rice starch

open access: yesCyTA - Journal of Food, 2020
The structure-properties relationships of native and debranched starch (DBS) were investigated by analyzing the results of DSC, XRD, NMR, HPAEC, FT-IR, SEM, hydrolysis, and digestibility properties. After debranching of starch in waxy rice, japonica rice,

Structure-properties relationships of novel cyclic olefinic copolymer/poly(L-lactic acid) polymer blends

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The structure-properties relationships of novel cyclic olefinic copolymer (COC)/poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) polymer blends are investigated by varying the PLLA content from 5–20 wt % in COC matrix, forming an immiscible blends at all concentrations ...

Structural property relationships in conjugated polymers

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2005
The synthesis of a series of PPV derivative polymers by the Wittig-Homer reaction is described. The structure of each polymer is varied and the effects of these variations on the optical properties is explored. The effects of alkyloxy side chains is observed between the PPV derivatives Poly(-p-phenylvinylene-co-2,5-bis-octyloxy phenylvinylene.) PPV-OPV

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

In Vitro Structure–Activity Relationships Between Dammarane-Type Saponins Isolated From and Their Anti-inflammatory Properties

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2022
Objectives : Total saponin extracts from the roots of Panax notoginseng have been proven to have anti-inflammatory properties. Dammarane-type saponins isolated from the roots of P notoginseng have been shown to be active inhibitors of nitric oxide (NO ...
