Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The characteristics of methane adsorption capacity and behavior of tectonic coal

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The research of methane adsorption on tectonic coal is an important content to gas disaster prevention and coalbed methane (CBM) exploration in outburst coal seams.

Structural property relationships in conjugated polymers

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2005
The synthesis of a series of PPV derivative polymers by the Wittig-Homer reaction is described. The structure of each polymer is varied and the effects of these variations on the optical properties is explored. The effects of alkyloxy side chains is observed between the PPV derivatives Poly(-p-phenylvinylene-co-2,5-bis-octyloxy phenylvinylene.) PPV-OPV

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Quantitative structure-property relationship studies on n-octanol/water partitioning coefficients of PCDD/Fs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Based on some fundamental quantum chemical descriptors computed by PM3 Hamiltonian, by the use of partial least-squares (PLS) analysis, a significant quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) model for logK(ow) of polychlorinated dibenzo-p ...

Application of quantitative structure property relationship to the design of high refractive index 193i resist [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A robust quantitative structure property relationship (QSPR) model with five parameters has been developed from 126 organic compounds for the prediction of refractive index at 589 nm.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Redox properties of alkyl-substituted 4-aryl-2,4-dioxobutanoic acids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2017
Redox properties of a set of aryldiketo acids (ADKs), small organic molecules that comprise 2,4-dioxobutanoic acid moiety, were studied. Along with well-known HIV-1 integrase (IN) inhibition, ADKs exert widespread biological activities.
