Numerical Investigation on the Transmission Loss of Skin Panels Based on the Intelligent PSO-CGA Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In the reported research, they only analyzed the impacts of restraint damping parameters on acoustic characteristics of skin panels, but failed to adopt advanced optimization algorithms to conduct an optimization design on restraint damping effects.

Benchmark of tools for in silico prediction of MHC class I and class II genotypes from NGS data

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2023
Background The Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) genes are a group of highly polymorphic genes that are located in the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) region on chromosome 6. The HLA genotype affects the presentability of tumour antigens to the immune

Probing valley population imbalance in transition metal dichalcogenides via temperature-dependent second harmonic generation imaging

open access: yesnpj 2D Materials and Applications, 2021
Degenerate minima in momentum space—valleys—provide an additional degree of freedom that can be used for information transport and storage. Notably, such minima naturally exist in the band structure of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs).

A clinically annotated post-mortem approach to study multi-organ somatic mutational clonality in normal tissues

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Recent research on normal human tissues identified omnipresent clones of cells, driven by somatic mutations known to be responsible for carcinogenesis (e.g., in TP53 or NOTCH1). These new insights are fundamentally changing current tumor evolution models,

Locomotion Index and Retinal Thickness of the Eye Anguilla bicolor bicolor in its Developmental Stage

open access: yesJurnal Biota, 2023
When migrating to the deep sea, the eye of the eel which functions for locomotion will adapt to the deep environment. This study is the first study to identify the locomotion index and the retinal structure at the stage glass eel, elver, yellow, and ...

Population and species neighbor identity impact trait–trait relationships and plant performance

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We evaluated how populations and species identity influence plant performance and trait outcomes in mixtures, and assessed trait variation among populations of two forb species native to the western United States (Dieteria canescens and Heterotheca villosa) following three interaction treatments (single‐population monoculture, two‐population mixture ...

Thrombospondin-1 Silencing Ameliorates Osteoblastic Differentiation of Aortic Valve Interstitial Cells via Inhibiting Nuclear Factor-κB Pathway

open access: yesCardiovascular Therapeutics
Conclusions: The present study has shown that TSP-1 silencing could mitigate the development of CAVD by inhibiting NF-κB-mediated inflammation. We propose that targeting TSP-1-mediated NF-κB pathway could provide a potential therapeutic method for ...

Habitat Simulation Technique as a Powerful Tool for Instream Flow Needs Assessment and River Ecosystem Management [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Energy and Economic Research, 2017
Instream flow needs (IFN) assessment studies are performed to provide guidelines for stream water management and to assess the impacts of different water projects such as weirs, dams and stream diversions on the available fish habitat.

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.
