The modulation of the light field by metasurfaces in near-field remains constrained by the coupling of cross-polarization components. This limits the storage space for ciphertexts with orthogonal polarization states.

Hierarchical assembly may be a way to make large information-rich structures
Self-assembly in the laboratory can now yield `information-rich' nanostructures in which each component is of a distinct type and has a defined spatial position. Ensuring the thermodynamic stability of such structures requires inter-component interaction

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Ground state structure and interactions between dimeric 2D Wigner crystals
We study the ground state ordering and interactions between two two-dimensional Wigner crystals on neutralizing charged plates by means of computer simulation. We consider crystals formed by (i) point-like charges and (ii) charged dimers, which mimic the

Supersymmetry in quantum mechanics with point interactions [PDF]
We investigate supersymmetry in one-dimensional quantum mechanics with point interactions. We clarify a class of point interactions compatible with supersymmetry and present N=2 supersymmetric models on a circle with two point interactions as well as a ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Strong bonds and far-from-equilibrium conditions minimize errors in lattice-gas growth [PDF]
We use computer simulation to study the layer-by-layer growth of particle structures in a lattice gas, taking the number of incorporated vacancies as a measure of the quality of the grown structure.

The Conformal Anomaly of M5-Branes
We show that the conformal anomaly for N M5-branes grows like $N^3$. The method we employ relates Coulomb branch interactions in six dimensions to interactions in four dimensions using supersymmetry.

Dynamics of quantum spin systems in dimer and valence-bond solid ground states stabilized by competing interactions [PDF]
For special coupling ratios, the one-dimensional (1D) s=1/2 Heisenberg model with antiferromagnetic nearest and next-nearest neighbor interactions has a pure dimer ground state, and the 1D s=1 Heisenberg model with antiferromagnetic bilinear and ...
