Variation in structure and selected properties of Finnish birch wood. III.

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1981
Variation of cellular proportion within the same growth rings counted from the pith of the stems and branches in four trees of Roth was studied. The fibre percentage decreased from breast height to the crown and then increased in the branches.

Static Structural Analysis of Checking Fixture Frame of Car Interior Using Finite Element Method

open access: yesAutomotive Experiences, 2023
An inspection is the most important step for the manufacturers producing their cars. This ensures the seamless compatibility of each car part, as even minor errors can lead to user discomfort during operation.

Using multiscale lidar to determine variation in canopy structure from African forest elephant trails [PDF]

open access: yes
Recently classified as a unique species by the IUCN, African forest elephants (Loxodonta cyclotis) are critically endangered due to severe poaching. With limited knowledge about their ecological role due to the dense tropical forests they inhabit in ...

Variation in seed dormancy quantitative trait loci in Arabidopsis thaliana originating from one site [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL) analysis was performed using two novel Recombinant Inbred Line (RIL) populations, derived from the progeny between two Arabidopsis thaliana genotypes collected at the same site in Kyoto (Japan) crossed with the reference ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Variation in structure and selected properties of Finnish birch wood. IV.

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1981
Length variation of fibres and vessels was studied in the branches, stems and roots of Roth and Ehrh. The cells were significantly shorter in the branches and roots than in the stems.

Impact of genetic variation on three dimensional structure and function of proteins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The Protein Data Bank (PDB; http://wwpdb.org) was established in 1971 as the first open access digital data resource in biology with seven protein structures as its initial holdings.

The scale of population structure in Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The population structure of an organism reflects its evolutionary history and influences its evolutionary trajectory. It constrains the combination of genetic diversity and reveals patterns of past gene flow.

ON THE GAUGE STRUCTURE OF THE CALCULUS OF VARIATIONS WITH CONSTRAINTS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2011
A gauge-invariant formulation of constrained variational calculus, based on the introduction of the bundle of affine scalars over the configuration manifold, is presented. In the resulting setup, the "Lagrangian" ℒ is replaced by a section of a suitable principal fiber bundle over the velocity space.
