Reviews of Modern Physics, 1963
Nuclear size parameters, nuclear phenomena, and nuclear interactions are discussed in terms of cluster, shell, liquid drop, and collective representations of nuclei. Results obtained by the several means are evaluated and are compared when posslble. The appropriateness of each model for certain applications is also examined. 334 references. (D.C.W.)

Structures of light. Structural morphologies as devices for capturing light
2016The paper would look at the principles of architectural composition as analytical distinction of parts, the idea of the structural fragment, the use of open forms and serial repetition, featured in modern and contemporary architecture. Given the possibilities of reinforced concrete structures, light penetrates into the building through the structural ...

Scene-Adapted Structured Light
2005 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR'05), 2005In order to overcome several limitations of structured light 3D acquisition methods, the colors, intensities, and shapes of the projected patterns are adapted to the scene. Based on a crude estimate of the scene geometry and reflectance characteristics, the local intensity ranges in the projected patterns are adapted, in order to avoid over- and under ...

Micro-Baseline Structured Light
2019 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2019We propose Micro-baseline Structured Light (MSL), a novel 3D imaging approach designed for small form-factor devices such as cell-phones and miniature robots. MSL operates with small projector-camera baseline and low-cost projection hardware, and can recover scene depths with computationally lightweight algorithms.

Shining a light on structural genomics
Nature Structural Biology, 1998Determining a 'basis set' of protein folds that represent a majority of protein structures — making use of synchrotron radiation facilities — may be possible in the near future.

Chemical structure of light chains
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B. Biological Sciences, 1966Abstract The light chains of immunoglobulins are a heterogeneous population of peptide chains. Two general types can be recognized immunologically and chemically, the λ and the K light chains. But within the two types further heterogeneity has been demonstrated. A minor heterogeneity observed in the K chains has given rise to two main

Light projection structure and lighting apparatus
2013Provided is a light projection structure (10), including: a reflective member (11) including a reflective surface (11a), the reflective surface (11a) being formed as a concave surface having a focal point (f) positioned near its apex (t); and a light emitting member (12) disposed at the focal point (f) and its vicinity, for emitting light when excited ...

Polarization of Light and Protein Structure
1977In the following chapter (Chap. 6) it will be seen that the configuration of a protein in space can be “visualized” by mathematically examining the reflections produced when a beam of X-ray is impinged on the lattice planes of the crystallized protein. While it is possible to assign loci to specific amino acids on the basis of this reflection data, in ...
