Linguistic Encodings of Hearing and Taste Senses across Three Lexical Categories in the New Persian Language from Sensory Linguistics Point of View [PDF]

open access: yes̒Ilm-i Zabān
This study done within the sensory linguistics framework, aims at determining the rate of linguistic encodings of hearing sense in comparison to taste sense across three lexical categories; noun, adjective and verb, in the New Persian language.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

How Reliable Is Automatic Emotion Classification in Children’s Drawings? A Reproducible Benchmark on a Public Corpus with Calibration and Selective Prediction

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Emotion recognition in children’s drawings is difficult because affect is carried by sparse strokes, symbolic objects, and overall composition rather than by the stable appearance statistics of photographs.

MODULATION AS A MULTIMODAL TRANSLATION STRATEGY OF GRAPHIC NOVEL PERSEPOLIS BY M. SATRAPI [PDF]

open access: yesAlfred Nobel University Journal of Philology
The article presents a specific perspective on modulation as a universal strategy for translating multimodal graphic novel, while exploring the interplay between visual and verbal elements in meaning construction.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Task-Oriented Spatial Representations for LLM-Based Spatial Reasoning: An Empirical Framework With Multi-Layer Controls

open access: yesIEEE Access
Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated considerable capability in spatial reasoning, yet prior work has focused primarily on diagnosing the limits of LLM spatial cognition rather than identifying which input representations improve performance ...

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...
