Computation of the real structured singular value
Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference, 1989For a large class of linear time-invariant systems with real parametric perturbations, the coefficient vector of the characteristic polynomial is a multilinear function of the real parameter vector. Based on this multilinear mapping relationship together with the recent developments for wlvtmic wlvnomials and Darameter domain partitioning tkchnique ...

Block-Structured Uncertainty and Structured Singular Value
1991Control theory is characterized by a tradeoff between the level of control performance and the tolerance with respect to plant uncertainties. The structured singular value (Doyle, J.G., 1982; Doyle, J.G., et al. 1982) provides a reliable measure to satisfy both performance and robustness requirements.

A Structured Singular Value Approach to Missile Autopilot Analysis II
1988 American Control Conference, 1988A state space model for additive errors that is algebraically and dynamically equivalent to Doyle's structured singular value is presented. Using this theory a new algorithm based on a Monte Carlo eigenvalue search is presented. Some examples are included that illustrate the convergence properties of the Monte Carlo technique.

Structured singular values and invariant theory
1991Structured singular values are functions defined on the set of n × n matrices. They describe, in some sense, how close a matrix is to zero. Special cases are the spectral radius function and the operator norm function. Such functions are used in control engineering as a mathematical tool for robustness analysis of feedback control systems, when the ...

Extensions to the structured singular value
1999NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. There are two basic approaches to robustness analysis. The first is Monte Carlo analysis which randomly samples parameter space to generate a profile for the typical behavior of the system.

Valuation Structures of Health States Revealed with Singular Value Decomposition
Medical Decision Making, 2006Objective. A basic mathematical routine called singular value decomposition (SVD) is introduced and applied to explore the applicability of this methodology in the context of health state valuations. Methods. SVD dissects a data matrix into 3 separatematrices that contain all the information present in the original data.

Robust Control Design Using Structured Singular Values
1996As we showed in the previous chapter there are two main limitations in connection with H∞ control theory. Probably the most important is that we can only handle full complex perturbation structures Δ(s) ∈ C n × m non-conservatively in an H∞ robustness test.

Structured Singular Value Synthesis Design Example: Rocket Stabilization
1990 American Control Conference, 1990The structured singular value synthesis methodology is applied to generate a stabilization control law for a rocket ascending through the earth's atmosphere. The control law stabilizes the inherent unstable pitching motions of the elastic vehicle by vectoring the thrust in response to motion sensed by a pitch rate gyroscope.
