PCA in studying coordination and variability: a tutorial
Clinical Biomechanics, 2004To explain and underscore the use of principal component analysis in clinical biomechanics as an expedient, unbiased means for reducing high-dimensional data sets to a small number of modes or structures, as well as for teasing apart structural (invariant) and variable components in such data sets. The method is explained formally and then applied to ...

Study of variability effect on decoding
IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002Trellis codes (including convolutional codes and turbo codes) have been widely used in DS-CDMA systems for their good performance. In this paper we study the performance of convolutional codes and turbo codes in an environment where E/sub b//N/sub 0/ changes sinusoidally. We study four cases of both scenarios.

Global study of variability in olfactory sensitivity.
Behavioral Neuroscience, 2020Variability in human olfactory sensitivity has been attributed to individual-level factors such as genetics, age, sex, medical history of infections and trauma, neurogenerative diseases, and emotional disorders. Scarce evidence exists on the cross-cultural variation in olfactory sensitivity.

Morphological and cytogenetical studies of H10Z tumor in various periods of growth in animals emphasize its heterogenous constitution formed by two groups of cell types, i.e. (1) ‘primary cell types’, the main constituents of tumor structure, well defined morphologically and genetically, which are gradually selected during tumor ...

Effects of Censored Variables on Family Studies
Behavior Genetics, 1997In the present paper effects of censored variables on estimates of genetic and environmental influences were studied. Analytic results showed with 50% censoring, about 15-20% of the variance may be attributed to the wrong source and that this amount increases rapidly with more than 70% censoring.

A Study of Climatic Variability
Monthly Weather Review, 1980Abstract An analysis of variance of the 1000-500 mb thickness field is performed to investigate climatic variability from 1949 to 1975. The thickness field and its variance, averaged over the Northern Hemispheric cap from 25°N latitude to the pole, are obtained and the resulting time series are analyzed for their trends and interrelationships. Analysis

A study of the variability of precipitation
Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1938A knowledge of the variability of precipitation‐averages for periods of various lengths is essential for the correct use of rainfall‐data. First, it must be known what length of record is needed to yield an average which may be projected into the future within tolerable limits of error. Second, the magnitude and frequency of departures from the average—
