Saproxylic beetles in natural and man-made deciduous high stumps retained for conservation

open access: yes, 2004
Intensive forest management in Scandinavia has decreased the amount of dead wood required by saproxylic (wood-living) organisms. To reduce this problem, some dead wood is now retained during forest operations, often in the form of man-made high stumps ...

Intrinsic Coupling of Radiative Cooling and Triboelectric Responses in Dual‐Function ZrO2 Nanocomposites for Adaptive Thermoregulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel nanocomposite design strategy utilizes ZrO2 to intrinsically couple passive daytime radiative cooling and triboelectric functionality within a single material platform. Fabricated via direct ink writing, the multifunctional breathable architecture provides effective sub‐ambient cooling, motion‐driven energy harvesting, and adaptive ...

Precommercial thinning stumps' susceptibility to Heterobasidion spp. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Each year, Heterobasidion spp. is a major cause of economic losses to forestry in the northern hemisphere, including Sweden. New results indicate that pre‐commercial thinnings could be at risk for Heterobasidion spp. infections.

Boosting Ferroelectricity: 2D and Polymer Ferroelectric Hybrids Enabling Ambipolar Nonvolatile MoS2 Memory Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two‐dimensional CuInP2S6 nanosheets are incorporated into a P(VDF‐TrFE) matrix to induce polarization‐cooperative ferroelectric coupling. The resulting P(VDF‐TrFE)/CuInP2S6 hybrid film exhibits reinforced ferroelectric ordering and reduced coercive electric fields compared with pristine P(VDF‐TrFE).

Exfoliated‐MoS2 Gradual Resistive Switching Devices as Artificial Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A vertical memristor based on untreated, exfoliated MoS2 is presented, revealing gradual resistive switching governed by Schottky barrier modulation at the MoS2/metal interface from the trapping/detrapping of charges. Furthermore, the device emulates synaptic‐like plasticity functions, including: potentiation, depression, and spike‐amplitude‐dependent ...
