Sturmian theorems for systems of differential equations
Two Sturmian theorems are established for second order linear nonhomogeneous systems of two differential equations with the use of a maximum principle. The results also hold for homogeneous systems. For illustration, an example is given.

A Sturmian theorem for first order partial differential equations
A pair of first order partial differential equations is considered. The system is transformed into a single nonlinear scalar equation of the Riccati type from which some Wirtinger type integral inequalities for functions of several variables are derived.

Comparison theorems for ultrahyperbolic equations
Sturmian comparison theorems are obtained for solutions of a class of normal and singular ultrahyperbolic partial differential equations. In the singular case, solutions are considered which satisfy non‐standard boundary conditions.

Wirtinger inequality and nonlinear differential systems [PDF]
summary:Picone identity for a class of nonlinear differential equations is established and various qualitative results (such as Wirtinger-type inequality and the existence of zeros of first components of solutions) are obtained with the help of this new ...

Oscillation Properties of Weakly Time Dependent Hyperbolic Equations
A Sturmian comparison theorem is established for a pair of linear hyperbolic differential equations. While the equations may be time dependent (in the sense of not allowing a separation of variables), a measure of the strength of such time dependence ...

Some oscillation theorems for second order differential equations [PDF]
summary:In this paper we establish some oscillation or nonoscillation criteria for the second order half-linear differential equation \[ (r(t)\Phi (u^{\prime }(t)))^{\prime }+c(t)\Phi (u(t))=0, \] where (i) $r,c\in C([t_{0}, \infty )$, $\mathbb{R ...

On Sturmian theory for second order systems
A generalization of the Sturm Comparison Theorem is given to nonselfadjoint second order linear systems. In addition, a theorem, involving the existence of a solution with strictly positive components, is proven.

Positive solutions of inequality with $p$-Laplacian in exterior domains [PDF]
summary:In the paper the differential inequality \[\Delta _p u+B(x,u)\le 0,\] where $\Delta _p u=\div (\Vert \nabla u\Vert ^{p-2}\nabla u)$, $p>1$, $B(x,u)\in C(\mathbb{R}^{n}\times \mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})$ is studied.

Sturmian theory for nonself-adjoint differential equations of second order
SynopsisThe Sturm–Picone comparison theorem is extended to nonself-adjoint differential equations considered on non-compact intervals.

Some qualitative questions on the equation −div(a(x,u,∇u))=f(x,u)
In this article, we establish several applications of Picone's identity for the operator of the form−div(a(x,u,∇u)), such as Hardy type inequality, Sturmian comparison theorem, monotonicity property of the first eigenvalue, nonexistence of positive ...
