Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus

Clinics in Dermatology, 1985
Abstract A large part of James N. Gilliam's abbreviated investigative career was devoted to testing a hypothesis that strong relationships do exist between the cutaneous and systemic manifestations of lupus erythematosus (LE). As a result of clinical observations made during his early studies designed to test this hypothesis, he introduced the term ...

Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus-immunogenetic associations

Journal of Autoimmunity, 1991
Thirty-two patients who fulfilled criteria for subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) were examined for their immunogenetic associations. Our results confirm the previously reported association of HLA-DR3 (15/31 48% P less than 0.01) and also demonstrate an increase in HLA-DR2 (14/31, 45%, P = less than 0.05).

Terbinafine-induced subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2001
Recently, the induction of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) and exacerbation of systemic lupus erythematosus by terbinafine have been reported. We describe 4 cases of SCLE, one associated with chilblain lupus, which occurred during therapy with oral terbinafine for onychomycosis.Of 21 consecutive patients with SCLE attending the outpatient ...

Subacute Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus in Iceland

International Journal of Dermatology, 1989
ABSTRACT: Identification of patients with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) in Iceland was performed by means of a survey based on the histopathologic or immunofluorescent diagnosis of lupus erythematosus. Respondents underwent serologic studies, gave histories, and, dependent upon the latter, were examined. The resultant proportional rate

Subacute Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus

Archives of Dermatology, 1979
We have characterized the clinical and laboratory features of 27 patients who had in common a recurring, superficial, nonscarring type of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (LE) that occurred in a characteristic distribution (subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus [SCLE]).

Acebutolol-Induced Subacute Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus

Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, 2005
Beta-blocking medications are rarely associated with drug-induced lupus erythematosus syndrome and have never been incriminated as a cause of subacute lupus erythematosus (SCLE). We present herein the first case of SCLE induced by acebutolol. A 57-year-old woman presented with a 1-month history of a cutaneous eruption of the photoexposed areas.

Bupropion‐induced subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus

Australasian Journal of Dermatology, 2005
SUMMARYSubacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus is a subset of cutaneous lupus erythematosus with unique immunological and clinical features. The first series of patients found to have drug‐induced subacute cutaneous lupus erythemotosus were secondary to hydrochlorothiazide.

Terbinafine-Induced Subacute Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus

Dermatology, 2006
Background: Nearly 10% of lupus erythematosus (LE) are drug induced. More than 60 different drugs are involved in iatrogenic LE. We report herein 3 cases of terbinafine-induced LE. Observations: Three patients receiving terbinafine for a suspected dermatophytic infection developed a subacute cutaneous LE, within 7 ...
