Predicting Resilient Modulus of Fine‐Grained Soils Using Support Vector Machine‐RBF and Random Forest

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The resilient modulus (Mr) of subgrade soils is an important element in road pavement structural design procedures. However, because of regional differences in soil parameters and the nature of test procedures, determining Mr in the laboratory has become cumbersome.

Field Sampling and Laboratory Preparation of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) With Admixture: Insights From Erbil Roads

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Asphalt cement, often referred to as asphalt or bitumen, is a fundamental material used in the production of hot mix asphalt (HMA) for road pavements. Historically, asphalt was combined directly with other materials to create conventional HMA without any form of modification.

Comparison of Real Response and Theoretical Modeling of Pavement with Thick Asphalt Layers under Heavy Traffic Load

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
Two kinds of asphalt pavement with thick asphalt layers were used to construct two samples. In structure I, a semirigid base and graded crushed stone subbase were used. In structure II, a granular base and semirigid subbase layer were used.

Applications of δ‐Open Sets via Separation Axioms, Covering Properties, and Rough Set Models

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this article, we make use of δ‐open sets to establish some topological concepts related to separation axioms and covering properties and to propose novel topological rough set models. We first demonstrate that the classes of regular‐open and δ‐open subsets of a finite topological space are equivalent when this space has the property of ∂(A)∩∂(B)⊆∂(A

Permanent deformation of unbound granular materials: A review

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online)
Several studies have been conducted in the pavement area to try to understand the elastoplastic behavior of unbound granular materials (UGMs) under cyclic loading.

Numerical Analysis of the Dynamic Behavior of the Ballasted Railway Track Under Loading of Trains at Variable Speeds to Improve the Prediction of Dynamic Amplification Factors and Damage to Its Components

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study contributes to the dynamic amplification effects of different speeds of trains on the behavior of the ballasted railway. The damage mechanisms of the main components of ballasted railway tracks were investigated in 3D numerical modeling using the PLAXIS code. Several moving speeds have been tested.

Ecotoxicological assessment of waste foundry sands and the application of different classification systems

open access: yesIntegrated Environmental Assessment and Management, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 2294-2311, November 2024.
Abstract The application of a battery of bioassays is widely recognized as a useful tool for assessing environmental hazard samples. However, the integration of different toxicity data is a key aspect of this assessment and remains a challenge. The evaluation of industrial waste leachates did not initially undergo any of the proposed integration ...

Reinforced SnO2 tensile‐strength and “buffer‐spring” interfaces for efficient inorganic perovskite solar cells

open access: yesCarbon Energy, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2024.
Polyacrylic acid (PAA) is used to reinforce the toughness of SnO2 and passivate SnO2 defects, forming an ideal “reinforced concrete” structure. PAA is also introduced into the SnO2/perovskite interface as a “buffer spring” to release residual strain, which acts as a “dual‐side passivation interlayer” to passivate interface defects.
