Subchannel allocation for the OFDMA-based femtocell system

Computer Networks, 2013
In femtocell networks, due to their small cell size, we can achieve higher spatial diversity from the channel reuse between multiple femtocells. In addition, if femtocells operate on OFDMA systems, each subchannel can be reused separately among femtocells, improving system efficiency more significantly.

Quantifying the Diversity of OFDMA Subchannels

2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007
Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) has been chosen as the radio transmission technology for future 4G wireless networks. One important reason for this choice is that OFDMA offers various forms of diversity (time, frequency, space, etc).

Subchannel assignment in OFDM relay nodes

2006 40th Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, 2006
The paper considers a source-relay-destination link in which the relay node is allowed to reassign the input subchannels to different output subchannels. In particular, we consider a channel-aware relay node and compute the subchannel reassignment that optimizes a selected performance criterion.

Comparison of Different Subchannelization Modes for OFDMA

2007 IEEE 18th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2007
In this paper, the problem of subchannel composition and allocation for the downlink of an OFDMA system is investigated. The subchannelization mode FUSC adopted in 802.16 is described and compared with dynamic subcarrier allocation algorithms. Performances are evaluated regarding spectral efficiency and complexity.

Bidirectional Worst Subchannel Avoiding Versus Best Subchannel Seeking Subcarrier-Allocation in Downlink OFDMA Systems

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2016
In this paper, we design and investigate two subcarrier-allocation algorithms for downlink orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) systems. One is designed to avoid assigning users, by as many as possible, worst subchannels, which is referred to as the bidirectional worst subchannel avoiding (BWSA) algorithm.

Equalization for OFDMA Systems Exploiting Unused Subchannels

2005 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2005
In orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, the cyclic prefix (CP) length needs to be no less than the longest channel delay spread of many users, reducing bandwidth efficiency more significantly than in single user OFDM systems.

GSM voice evolution using orthogonal subchannels

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2012
The explosive growth of mobile communications, and the overly crowded and expensive spectrum have pushed both system engineers and operators to make their systems as spectrally efficient as possible in order to accommodate the increasing traffic demand. This article is a tutorial introduction to the orthogonal subchannel (OSC) technique.
