Temporal dynamics of co‐inoculation of Leptosphaeria maculans and Leptosphaeria biglobosa determine interspecific competition and disease development on oilseed rape

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study provides evidence that the timing of co‐inoculation of Leptosphaeria maculans and Leptosphaeria biglobosa determine the outcome of interspecific competition and disease development on their host oilseed rape. Abstract BACKGROUND Phoma stem canker is one of the most economically damaging diseases of oilseed rape, caused by co‐existing fungal ...

Overlay of Common and Subclade-specific Motifs on Human SLC22A6 2D Topology.

open access: yes, 2015
(A) SLC22 family-conserved motifs versus subclade-conserved motifs. Overlaid on the 2D topology are the 16 evolutionarily-conserved family motifs (green/dark green) and the 11 subclade-specific motifs (red/blue).

Disease control in oilseed rape: Current insights and perspectives for next‐generation integrated pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Winter oilseed rape in Europe suffers frequent pathogen losses. This review outlines key integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, rotation, residue and tillage management, optimized sowing, resistance, and targeted fungicides supported by forecasting.

Discovery and characterisation of succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor resistance in Plenodomus biglobosus (phoma stem canker of oilseed rape)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
SDHI resistance is reported and characterised for the first time in the oilseed rape phoma stem canker pathogen Plenodomus biglobosus (Leptosphaeria biglobosa). We investigate cross‐resistance patterns, associated SDH target‐site mutations, possible fitness costs, and consider the implications for disease and resistance management.

Comparative genomic analysis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae isolated in the United Kingdom, between 2016 and 2024

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a bacterium that causes upper and lower respiratory infections in children and adults. Epidemics occur over the winter period every few years with the most recent seen in 2023/24.

Co‐phylogeny and biogeography of the myrmecophilous beetle Paussus favieri (Carabidae, Paussinae) and its host ant Pheidole pallidula (Hymenoptera, Myrmicinae)

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Strict patterns of co‐divergence have rarely been documented other than among organisms and their symbionts. In this paper, using a molecular approach, we inferr the population‐level phylogenies of a Mediterranean ant species Pheidole pallidula and its nest parasite, the obligate myrmecophilous beetle Paussus favieri. We then investigate the role of co‐
