Human biomarker navigator

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
The Human Biomarker Navigator integrates the disease continuum, biomarker dynamics, cross‐organ biomarker networks, biomarker classification, and technology‐driven paradigms. It maps how biomarkers link multi‐system physiology and pathology across the nervous, respiratory, endocrine, circulatory, immune, digestive, urinary, reproductive, and ...

The Effects of Biologic Agents on Carotid Intima‐Media Thickness and Hepatic Steatosis in Patients With Moderate‐To‐Severe Psoriasis: A Prospective Observational Cohort Study

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
In this prospective observational cohort study, 34 patients with moderate‐to‐severe psoriasis received biologic therapy (anti‐TNF‐α, anti‐IL‐12/23, or anti‐IL‐17) for 6 months. Carotid intima–media thickness decreased significantly in the overall cohort (p < 0.01), with the greatest reductions in the anti‐IL‐17 and anti‐IL‐12/23 groups.

Joint and Independent Associations of Dietary Antioxidant Intakes With Advanced Stages in Older Patients With Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored the association between the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) progression in an older population. Using data from NHANES 2001–2020, we analyzed 4974 adults aged ≥ 60 years with CKM syndrome. The CDAI was calculated from the intake of six dietary antioxidants.

Disease activity index is associated with subclinical atherosclerosis in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus

open access: yesPediatric Rheumatology Online Journal, 2021
Background Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular events. The present study determined the prevalence of subclinical atherosclerosis in childhood-onset SLE using the carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT ...

Structural Carotid Atherosclerosis and Mild Behavioral Impairment: A Cross‐Sectional Study in a Community‐Dwelling Population

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mild behavioral impairment (MBI) is a late‐life neuropsychiatric syndrome proposed as an early clinical manifestation of neurodegenerative disease. Vascular pathology contributes to late‐life cognitive and behavioral changes; however, its relationship with MBI remains insufficiently characterized.

Role of Micronutrients on Subclinical Atherosclerosis

open access: yes, 2016
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD) leading to coronary heart disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. Nutrition is one of the key factors in the etiology of atherosclerosis. Micronutrient supplements are widely used

Clinical interpretation of cardiac troponin in athletes: From endurance exercise to exertional injury

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Exertional heat illness (EHI) and exertional rhabdomyolysis (ER) are increasingly recognized causes of morbidity in competitive and tactical athletes. Cardiac troponin (cTn) elevation, traditionally viewed as a marker of myocardial necrosis, may also be seen in these settings and can create significant diagnostic and prognostic uncertainty ...

Dietary Flavonoid Hyperoside Ameliorates High‐Fat Diet‐Induced Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by Enhancing Brown Adipose Tissue Thermogenesis, White Adipose Tissue Browning, and Gut Microbiota Remodeling

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Hyperoside ameliorates metabolic dysfunction in high‐fat diet‐induced type 2 diabetic mice, accompanied by enhanced brown adipose tissue thermogenic activity, inguinal white adipose tissue browning‐related changes, reduced M1 macrophage polarization, and gut microbiota remodeling.
