ABSTRACT The growing impacts of climate change and energy scarcity demand environmentally sustainable refrigeration solutions. This study investigates eco‐friendly refrigerants (R152a, R290 and R600a) and their optimized ternary mixture as alternatives to R134a. Four blend compositions were analysed using experimental testing and REFPROP 10.0 modelling

Refrigerant Charge Prediction of Vapor Compression Air Conditioner Based on Start-Up Characteristics
Refrigerant charge faults, which occur frequently, increase the energy loss and may fatally damage the system. Refrigerant leakage is difficult to detect and diagnose until the fault has reached a severe degree.

Study on Natural Gas Decarbonization Process Based on CO2 Desublimation Characteristics
ABSTRACT Natural gas decarbonization is a crucial processing step. In this study, the snow separation technology for removal of carbon dioxide in natural gas based on CO2 desublimation characteristics was introduced. The phase equilibrium calculation of CH4‐CO2 and N2‐CO2 system was carried out by using cubic equations of states (EOSs), and identified ...

Alternative Refrigerants in Adiabatic Capillary Tubes [PDF]
This study examines the mass flow rate of refrigerants in adiabatic capillary tubes, with an emphasis on the nature of the metastable region for both single component refrigerants and mixtures. The metastable region of a capillary tube was found to be

High‐Temperature Heat Pump Test Bench with n‐Butane (R‐600) Generating Steam
This work involves building a test bench for a high‐temperature heat pump (HTHP) and analyzing the measurements. The focus is on steam generation using an HTHP to decarbonize process steam demand. The findings indicate that stable steam generation is possible, providing a higher heat transfer coefficient in the heat pump's condenser.

Experimental and Numerical Study of Film Boiling Around a Small Nickel Sphere
This work—mixing an original experimental approach, as well as numerical simulations—proposes to study film boiling modes around a small nickel sphere. While dealing with a simple looking phenomenon that is found in many industrial processes and has been

Abstract This paper is concerned with the development of an analytical model to determine the subcooled boiling characteristics under forced convective conditions over a wide range of mass flows and subcoolings. This model considers the two regions of subcooled boiling: local boiling with stationary bubbles (high subcooling), and local boiling with ...

Optimization of Heat Exchanger Design Parameters for Hydrocarbon Refrigerant Systems [PDF]
Hydrocarbon refrigerants (HC's) are one alternative to hydrofluorocarbons (HFC???s) since they have zero ozone depletion potential and negligible global warming potential.
