A Methodology to Integrate Closed‐Cycle Heat Pumps into Batch Distillation Columns

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Batch distillation often cannot use vapor recompression due to contamination risks in food and pharma. This study proposes a design for integrating closed‐loop heat pumps using natural fluids. Results show significant energy savings, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional setups.

Realization of coalescence-induced condensate droplet jumping on a hierarchical porous superhydrophobic surface over a wide range of subcooling up to 20 K

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Coalescence-induced jumping of condensate droplets has been studied as an emerging mode for enhanced condensation heat transfer. However, the spontaneous droplet jumping phenomenon usually disappears at relatively higher degrees of subcooling due to the ...

Numerical Simulation of Subcooled Flow Boiling in a Threaded Tube and Investigation of Heat Transfer and Bubble Behavior

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Three-dimensional subcooled flow boiling of R134a in a threaded tube was numerically simulated at the conditions of 200~400 kW/m2 heat flux, 3~20 K inlet subcooling, and 0.2~0.6 m/s inlet velocity. The bubble behavior in the horizontal threaded tube with

CFD for Subcooled Flow Boiling: Parametric Variations [PDF]

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, 2013
We investigate the present capabilities of CFD for wall boiling. The computational model used combines the Euler/Euler two-phase flow description with heat flux partitioning. Very similar modeling was previously applied to boiling water under high pressure conditions relevant to nuclear power systems.

A Short‐Cut Design Approach to Evaluate Reboiler Designs in Vapor Recompression Scenarios

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A short‐cut model framework that incorporates mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) requirements into reboiler design is presented, which is particularly beneficial during early process development with limited data or initial feasibility assessments.

Experimental Study on Heating Performance of Air-source Heat Pump with Natural Cold Source Subcooling

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2021
There are many natural cold sources in the northern China in winter, and thermodynamic analysis shows that the heat released by the working medium subcooling can be compensated in the isothermal heat absorption process of the evaporator. To determine the

Solidification behavior of Fe3O4 coated multi-wall carbon nanotube cool storage medium

open access: yesShenzhen Daxue xuebao. Ligong ban, 2023
In order to solve the problem of large subcooling degree and low solidification efficiency of traditional ice storage mass, highly stable Fe3O4 coated multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites were prepared by adding acid treatment and ...
