Characterization of the polarity of subcritical water

Journal of Chromatography A, 2017
The polarity of subcritical water was studied solvatochromically with betaine dye (33) across a temperature range of 30°C-180°C and a pressure range of 13.8bar (200psi) to 124bar (1800psi). It was observed that temperature has a greater effect than pressure on the polarity of subcritical water.

Defects and subcritical bifurcations

Physical Review Letters, 1989
In this Letter we study subcritical transitions in spatially extended systems when topological defects are present. The behavior of a single defect is discussed in the framework of Ginzburg-Landau models. We show how the transition from one stable state to the other is affected by the presence of defects. Our results, claimed to be independent of these

Experimental determination of subcriticality at subcritical PWRs in Korea

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2010
Abstract A direct subcriticality measurement system (SMS) based on the Feynman-α method has recently been developed by KEPRI. It was applied to six commercial pressurized water reactors in Korea. However, the obtained Feynman curves failed to give proper multiplication factors.

Subcritical Water Extraction of Natural Products

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Subcritical water refers to high-temperature and high-pressure water. A unique and useful characteristic of subcritical water is that its polarity can be dramatically decreased with increasing temperature.

Subcritical Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence

Physical Review Letters, 1985
Numerical simulations of a simple model for ideal magnetohydrodynamic modes have shown stationary turbulence and transport at ..beta.. values substantially below the critical ..beta.. required for linear instability. The phenomenon appears to be similar to subcritical turbulence in plane-parallel pipe flow.

On the Subcritical Speeds of the Rotating Shaft

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1932
Abstract Disturbances sometimes encountered at speeds above the fundamental whirling speed, having the fundamental frequency, are usually, and correctly, attributed to internal friction. Other disturbances frequently met with at speeds below the fundamental whirling speed, and when the motions also have the fundamental natural frequency,

The Subcritical Phase

1989
In this chapter we consider the subcritical phase of bond percolation on L d when d ≥ 2; that is, we suppose that the edge-probability p satisfies p < p c . In this phase, all open clusters are finite almost surely and furthermore have finite mean size.

On the evaluation of ADS subcriticality

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2002
Abstract Based on a recent derivation of perturbation methods generally applicable for the analysis of subcritical reactors, at steady state or transient conditions, a simple procedure is described for the evaluation of their subcriticality level during normal operation.
