A study on the controlling of obesity for the pregnant women by measuring the subcutaneous fat thickness with ultrasonic method [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The body weight of the pregnant women is generally eight to thirteen kgs larger than that of the non-pregnant, because of conceiving the foetus and additives, as well as the accumulation of fat.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Kaempferia parviflora Extract (SIRTMAX®) reduces body fat in adults who are overweight: a 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Background/objectivesKaempferia parviflora Extract (SIRTMAX®) has been reported to alleviate obesity. However, few studies have investigated this topic and none have evaluated its potential among Koreans. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of K.

Levels of Adiponectin Expression in Peri-Renal and Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue and Its Determinants in Human Biopsied Samples

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2020
Background: The interactions of adipose tissue with the kidney are hypothesized to affect kidney function. Also, excessive peri-renal fat may increase the risk of cardiometabolic risk.

Obesity: new insight into the anthropometric classification of fat distribution shown by computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Twenty eight women presenting for routine computed tomography had their waist, hip, and thigh circumferences measured. The ratio of the area of intra-abdominal fat to the area of subcutaneous fat shown in the computed tomogram taken at the umbilical ...

Genome-Wide Association of Body Fat Distribution in African Ancestry Populations Suggests New Loci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Central obesity, measured by waist circumference (WC) or waist-hip ratio (WHR), is a marker of body fat distribution. Although obesity disproportionately affects minority populations, few studies have conducted genome-wide association study (GWAS) of fat

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

The relationship between colonic diverticulosis and abdominal visceral and subcutaneous fat accumulation measured by abdominal CT scan

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, 2014
Background/Aims: Besides age, risk factors for colonic diverticular disease include dietary meat intake and Western lifestyles, which are also risk factors for obesity.

Bioinspired Hydrogels with Broadly Programmable Mechanics for Soft‐Tissue Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber‐inspired gelatin hydrogels are formed by directional freezing and mechanically programmed through subsequent ionic treatment. Multiscale characterization and modeling link ion‐regulated chain interactions to directional load transfer within the aligned hierarchical architecture.
