Blood Cell‐Camouflaged Liquid Metal Nanoconjugates Orchestrate Treg Depletion and STING‐Amplified Photothermal Immunity for Metastatic Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Whole‐blood biomimetic engineering transforms liquid metal nanoparticles into a tripartite immunotherapeutic platform that orchestrates regulatory T‐cell depletion, photothermal‐induced immunogenic cell death, and activation of the stimulator of interferon genes pathway.

An Avalanche Effect Nanomodulator Triggers Cascade Ferroptosis/Cuproptosis for Immunosuppressive Microenvironment Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanomodulator called L‐Arginine/lificiguat@Copper‐hollow Prussian blue@Calcium phosphate nanoparticles is constructed to launch a self‐amplifying “avalanche effect” in tumor cells. The ensuing cascade, triggered by the acidic tumor microenvironment and near‐infrared light, induces calcium overload, generates a reactive oxygen species and reactive ...

A case report of a combined implantation technique of a cardioverter-defibrillator in an infant with long QT syndrome type 8 (Timothy's syndrome)

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal
We present a case of successful implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) using combined technique in a child with Timothy's syndrome. Due to high risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) such patients often need ICD for primary or secondary ...

Versatile Co‐Engineering of Immunogenic Cell Death‐Primed Dead Tumor Cell Bodies With Tumor‐Activated MnO2 for cGAS‐STING‐Potentiated Personalized Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DTBEI@CS@MnO2, fabricated via modular electrostatic co‐engineering and photothermal/photodynamic immunogenic cell death, specifically responds to the acidic and GSH‐rich tumor microenvironment. This triggers the release of DTBEI that provides tumor antigens, DNA, and DAMPs, as well as the generation of Mn2+, thereby synergistically potentiating cGAS ...

Asymptomatic Anterior Perforation of an ICD Lead into Subcutaneous Tissues [PDF]

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2007
A 71‐year‐old woman underwent routine impantable cardioverter defibrillator implantation. On a predischarge check the next day, electrical signals and thresholds were excellent and similar to those at implant. The chest X‐ray was unremarkable and showed good lead position at the right ventricular apex (RVA).

Chemical Bond‐Orchestrated Energy Depletion to Augment Lung Cancer Chemo‐Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study grafted dichloroacetic acid (DCA) into perylenediimide (PDI) skeleton via ionic or covalent bond to create novel metabolic agent PDIC‐AC and PDIC‐NAC, explicitly elaborated the underlying energy metabolism and therapeutic mechanism, and developed a promising strategy for energy metabolism‐targeting chemo‐immunotherapy by chemical bond ...

Subcutaneous ICD implantation.

open access: yesRevista portuguesa de cardiologia : orgao oficial da Sociedade Portuguesa de Cardiologia = Portuguese journal of cardiology : an official journal of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology, 2010
An 18-year-old patient, with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and an implantable cardioverter defibrillator for 6 years, was admitted with inappropriate shocks as a consequence of a lead fracture (Sprint Quattro, Medtronic). The device was explanted and replaced with a new subcutaneous defibrillator (Cameron SQ-RX), without complications. This was the first

Iron‐Tannic Acid Hydrogel Mediated Mild Photothermal Therapy Combined With Ferroptosis Enhances Anti‐Tumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An injectable gelatin‐based tannic acid–iron hydrogel with mild photothermal therapy could not only induce immunogenic cell death, but also elicit ferroptosis of both tumor cells and tumor‐associated macrophages, resulting in DC maturation, T‐cell infiltration and down‐regulation of ferroptosis‐sensitive M2‐type TAMs levels.

Overcoming Drug Resistance by Paclitaxel Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the murine triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) model, chemotherapy effectively increases tumor neoantigen burden (TNB). Here, the study constructs a liposomal nanovaccine using antigens derived from in vitro chemotherapy‐treated paclitaxel‐resistant TNBC 4T1 cells.

The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator in daily clinical practice

open access: yesSwiss Medical Weekly, 2017
INTRODUCTION In Switzerland, the first implantation of a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) took place in November 2012. Up until the end of 2016, a total of 111 S-ICDs have been implanted.
