Analysing Subgingival Plaque with regard to H.pylori at Chronic and Aggressive Periodontitis Patients

open access: yesCumhuriyet Dental Journal, 2018
Objectives:  Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori) is a Gram (-), microaerophilic bacteria and the etiological factor of chronic active gastritis and peptic ulcer.

Characteristics of Trypsin-like Activity in Subgingival Plaque Samples [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, 1987
Previous studies have demonstrated that the hydrolysis of the trypsin substrate N-benzoyl-DL-arginine-2-naphthylamide (BANA), by subgingival plaque obtained from a single site, correlates best with the numbers and proportions of spirochetes in plaque samples and may serve as an indicator of clinical disease.

Comparative evaluation of subgingival plaque microflora in pregnant and non-pregnant women: A clinical and microbiologic study

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Periodontology, 2013
Context: Gingival changes in pregnancy have been attributed to changes in the subgingival biofilm related to hormonal variations. Aims: To evaluate the subgingival plaque microflora in pregnant and nonpregnant women to determine if pregnancy induces any ...

Bacterial Communities within Gingival Tissues from Periodontal Lesions Compared with Subgingival Plaque

open access: yesJournal of Oral Microbiology, 2017
Periodontitis is caused by dysbiosis of subgingival plaque that results in increased bacterial invasion into gingival tissues. Although shifts in subgingival microbiota from healthy to periodontitis have been well characterized, the characteristics of ...

Metagenome-based virome analysis identifies the oral viral signatures for periodontitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Oral Microbiology
Background Periodontitis (PD) is a chronic infectious disease driven by bacterial biofilms, yet the oral virome's role in pathogenesis remains poorly understood. Objective This cross-cohort meta-analysis aims to define PD-associated viral signatures ...

Tracking of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans in subgingival plaque of aggressive periodontitis patients

open access: yesJournal of International Clinical Dental Research Organization, 2010
Background: Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans is thought to be one of the etiological agents in aggressive periodontitis as well as indicated in various systemic diseases. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of A.

Microbial profile comparisons of saliva, pooled and site-specific subgingival samples in periodontitis patients. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The purpose of this study was to compare microbial profiles of saliva, pooled and site-specific subgingival samples in patients with periodontitis. We tested the hypotheses that saliva can be an alternative to pooled subgingival samples, when screening ...

Relative abundance of total subgingival plaque-specific bacteria in salivary microbiota reflects the overall periodontal condition in patients with periodontitis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Increasing attention is being focused on evaluating the salivary microbiota as a promising method for monitoring oral health; however, its bacterial composition greatly differs from that of dental plaque microbiota, which is a dominant etiologic factor ...

Bacterial Profiles of Subgingival Plaques in Periodontitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, 1985
In this report over 400 subgingival plaque samples taken from over 110 patients were examined microscopically and culturally for 30 bacterial parameters. The patients could be placed into six disease categories based upon clinical criteria. The bacterial profile of each clinical category was generally distinctive of that category.
