ABSTRACT We develop a framework for regulated production systems where output generation and pollution abatement impose competing technological demands. Using a multi‐ware technology, we model the production set as the intersection of two input requirement frontiers, one for production and one for abatement, each reflecting distinct trade‐offs.

In a real Hilbert space, we aim to investigate two modified Mann subgradient-like methods to find a solution to pseudo-monotone variational inequalities, which is also a common fixed point of a finite family of nonexpansive mappings and an asymptotically

Subgradient Sampling for Nonsmooth Nonconvex Minimization
Risk minimization for nonsmooth nonconvex problems naturally leads to first-order sampling or, by an abuse of terminology, to stochastic subgradient descent. We establish the convergence of this method in the path-differentiable case and describe more precise results under additional geometric assumptions.

Differential item functioning detection across multiple groups
Abstract Differential item functioning (DIF) can be investigated by estimating item response theory (IRT) parameters separately for different respondent groups, thus allowing for the detection of discrepancies in parameter estimates across groups. However, before comparing the estimates, it is necessary to convert them to a common metric due to the ...

Application of the j-Subgradient in a Problem of Electropermeabilization [PDF]
We study a coupled elliptic-parabolic Poincaré-Steklov system arising in electrical cell activity in biological tissues. By using the notion of $j$-subgradient, we show that this system has a gradient structure and thus obtain wellposedness. We further exploit the gradient structure for the discretisation of the problem and provide numerical ...

A note on generalised information criteria for structured sparse models
Summary We propose a generalised information criteria ( gic) that accounts for sparsity pattern in the model. We obtain both asymptotic and nonasymptotic results for model selection. Moreover, we show that the gic is useful for selecting the regularisation parameter in regularised m$$ m $$ estimation in high‐dimensional scenarios.

Distributed Optimization of Finite Condition Number for Laplacian Matrix in Multi‐Agent Systems
ABSTRACT This paper addresses the distributed optimization of the finite condition number of the Laplacian matrix in multi‐agent systems. The finite condition number, defined as the ratio of the largest to the second smallest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix, plays an important role in determining the convergence rate and performance of consensus ...

In a real Hilbert space, we denote CFPP and VIP as common fixed point problem of finitely many strict pseudocontractions and a variational inequality problem for Lipschitzian, pseudomonotone operator, respectively. This paper is devoted to explore how to

A Family of Multi-Step Subgradient Minimization Methods
For solving non-smooth multidimensional optimization problems, we present a family of relaxation subgradient methods (RSMs) with a built-in algorithm for finding the descent direction that forms an acute angle with all subgradients in the neighborhood of
