On Mann Viscosity Subgradient Extragradient Algorithms for Fixed Point Problems of Finitely Many Strict Pseudocontractions and Variational Inequalities

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In a real Hilbert space, we denote CFPP and VIP as common fixed point problem of finitely many strict pseudocontractions and a variational inequality problem for Lipschitzian, pseudomonotone operator, respectively. This paper is devoted to explore how to

A Family of Multi-Step Subgradient Minimization Methods

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
For solving non-smooth multidimensional optimization problems, we present a family of relaxation subgradient methods (RSMs) with a built-in algorithm for finding the descent direction that forms an acute angle with all subgradients in the neighborhood of

Estimating Plant Species Richness With Sentinel and Landsat Data Across Ecosystems in China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
438 field plots were used to estimate plant diversity across ecosystems; 18 spectral indices were derived from Sentinel and Landsat data; EVI, DVI, PSRI, NDVI, PRI, GNDVI, and GMEVI were identified as powerful indicators for predicting plant alpha diversity.

A trust region method using subgradient for minimizing a nondifferentiable function [PDF]

open access: yesYugoslav Journal of Operations Research, 2009
The minimization of a particular nondifferentiable function is considered. The first and second order necessary conditions are given. A trust region method for minimization of this form of the objective function is presented.

Subgradient Sampling for Nonsmooth Nonconvex Minimization

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Optimization, 2023
Risk minimization for nonsmooth nonconvex problems naturally leads to first-order sampling or, by an abuse of terminology, to stochastic subgradient descent. We establish the convergence of this method in the path-differentiable case and describe more precise results under additional geometric assumptions.

Dimer models and conformal structures

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 340-446, February 2026.
Abstract Dimer models have been the focus of intense research efforts over the last years. Our paper grew out of an effort to develop new methods to study minimizers or the asymptotic height functions of general dimer models and the geometry of their frozen boundaries.

Distributed optimization over time-varying directed graphs

open access: yes, 2014
We consider distributed optimization by a collection of nodes, each having access to its own convex function, whose collective goal is to minimize the sum of the functions.

Inference About Separable Causal Effects With Longitudinal Bivariate Ordinal Responses With Missingness and Censoring

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 3-5, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Causal inference has gained extensive attention in various fields, including healthcare, epidemiology, and social sciences. While many methods have been developed, most research has been directed to handle data with a univariate response variable.

Differentially Private Convex Optimization with Piecewise Affine Objectives

open access: yes, 2014
Differential privacy is a recently proposed notion of privacy that provides strong privacy guarantees without any assumptions on the adversary. The paper studies the problem of computing a differentially private solution to convex optimization problems ...

Can tropical cyclones exist near the Equator?

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 152, Issue 774, January 2026 Part A.
Schematic showing how a developed TC responds to reduced Coriolis parameter (f). Zero‐f lowers inertial stability and increases agradient force, enhancing radial inflow at lower levels. Stronger inflow deepens the inflow layer and promotes convergence, intensifying convection and downdrafts in outer rainbands.
