Subharmonic synchronous mode-locking of a monolithic DBR semiconductor laser

Conference Digest. 15th IEEE International Semiconductor Laser Conference, 2002
We report on synchronous mode-locking of a 33 GHz monolithic DBR semiconductor laser using an input optical pulse train with a repetition rate equal to the 20th subharmonic frequency, namely 1.65 GHz. The resulting 33 GHz optical pulse train exhibits very low timing jitter (< 0.21 ps).

Quantum dynamics of interacting modes in the process of intracavity subharmonic generation

Optics and Spectroscopy, 2014
The dynamics of correlation between fluctuations of the number of photons of interacting modes is investigated for the process of intracavity subharmonic generation. It is demonstrated that this correlation strongly depends on the nonlinear mode coupling coefficient.

Quantum fluctuations in the optical parametric oscillator in the limit of a fast decaying subharmonic mode

Physical Review A, 1995
The quantum fluctuations in a nondegenerate optical parametric oscillator are calculated without the standard linearization assumption. Analytical results are obtained with the help of a mean-field approximation, which is exact in the limit of a fast decaying subharmonic mode.

Fundamental and subharmonic instability modes interaction in an acoustically controlled elliptic jet

Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, Transactions of the Chinese Institute of Engineers,Series A/Chung-kuo Kung Ch'eng Hsuch K'an, 1998
Abstract The interaction of the fundamental and the subharmonic instability modes of an elliptic jet under excitations are investigated experimentally in this paper. Results indicated that the fundamental instability mode f 0 saturated in the major axis location is almost the same as the subharmonic instability mode f 0/2 saturated in the minor axis ...

Mode locking of lateral modes in broad-area semiconductor lasers by subharmonic optical pulse injection

Applied Physics Letters, 2006
We generate stable mode-locking of different lateral modes in broad-area semiconductor lasers (BALs) by local injection of short optical pulses repeated at subharmonics of the lateral mode separation. The locking results in a persistent, periodic spatiotemporal dynamics consisting of a laterally alternating intensity modulation with a repetition rate ...

Electrical subharmonic hybrid mode locking of a colliding pulse mode-locked laser at 28 GHz

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2005
This letter discusses electrical subharmonic hybrid mode locking (SHML) of a colliding pulse mode-locked (CPM) laser in InP. The CPM laser fabrication adopts a simple wet etching process and bisbenzocyclobutene planarization process for realizing planarized low-capacitance devices.

Detuning characteristics of a subharmonically hybrid mode-locked monolithic semiconductor laser

Conference Digest. 15th IEEE International Semiconductor Laser Conference, 2002
The detuning characteristics of subharmonic hybrid mode-locking (SH-ML) of a monolithic semiconductor laser at 33 GHz are investigated. We used a 1.55 /spl mu/m semiconductor laser consisting of a saturable absorber (SA), a gain, a phase control, and a DBR section.

z-plane load modelling with particular reference to subharmonic mode responses

Electric Power Systems Research, 1989
Abstract Whilst there are often ample grounds on which to justify the use of simplified, linear transient representations for system loads in evaluating electromagnetic transients in power networks, it seems unlikely that typical practical requirements can be fulfilled from this basis in the particular context of subharmonic modes of system ...
